I did not forget Queen Berry. However, in the case of Torch, the head of government is WEB DuHavel. I think he would insist on a lot more formality. Issue the invitation to Berry or Jeremy and the answer would be "What time?".

As for the smaller members of the Manticoran Alliance, once again, I think most of them would insist on a more formal dinner at least the first night. If for no other reason than to thank The Salamander for her actions publicly. The second night would probably be more informal.

Still, what other person in the Honorverse has the access and the influence that she does?

I really don't think the as-yet-unwritten Torch constitution is all that clear on the division of powers between the Heads of Government and State. Berry's made it quite clear that SHE is in charge, whatever Web or Jeremy might think...one of the MANY reasons I really really like her. :grin:

She pocked the Admiral of "Home Fleet" as a lowly Commander, with a gutted light cruiser, using only an experimental weapon that cannot be named.

That is one time of many that I'd've liked to've seen Honor's victim's face. Can you imagine D'Orville's face and exclamation ... :o WTF?! :lol:

Aside:
Can all of Honor's problems be blamed on the single event of the games, second only to kicking Young's arse?

Don't forget that Her Mousety also has the ability to banish one person per year from her Mousedom. I'd think that would put the brakes on any pomp and circumstance WEB may want if she doesn't feel it's warranted.

1. Manticore (obviously)
2. Beowulf (quite literally family)
3. Grayson (also a no-brainer)

5. Haven (Pritchart, Theisman, Tourville, and Foraker anyone?)
6. Torch (this one I'm not quite sure of but it seemed a surer bet than Erewhon...)

She has more power over her subjects than the Queen has over hers.

She is also more revered by her subjects than the Queen is by hers. :o
