Harkness just isn't the type of personality suited to officer's rank, no sirree, not at all. Besides, he won't need it in order to remain with Scotty - admirals have a whole lot of say in who is picked for their staffs, and this is one point I suspect Scotty will fight for with everything he's got.

But people, I am shocked and dismayed that NO ONE has mentioned one of the most important relationships in the entire series! Andrew and Nimitz!

Can we have relationships between star nations and not just people? Because the connection between the SEM and Grayson (notwithstanding High Ridge's foolery) has been nigh-unbreakable for decades now.

And on a less front-and-center note, there's Manticore's relationship with Beowulf. I'm glad we're starting to see it more after only really hearing about it in the background for awhile.

I suspect you're right on that. Warner she knew from Silesia and Cerberus. I'm not sure she'd even met Alfredo Yu until he was revealed as her flag captain - he wasn't in Yeltsin's Star when Honor hit the Blackbird base, and he was already off Thunder of God when it arrived for Second Yeltsin.

She met Alfredo Yu before he was assigned as her flag captain in Yeltsin.

Hamish Alexander speaking:
The Honor of the Queen, Chapter 35 wrote:"I also have to inform you that a certain Captain Alredo Yu, lately in the service of the People's Republic of Haven, was picked up in Endicott. He's requested asylum from the Crown." Harrington straightened in her chair, her eye very intent, and he nodded. "I'll be sending him home aboard your ship, Captain, and I expect you to show him the courtesy due his rank."

Replying to Mercedes Brigham
Flag in Exile, Chapter 9 wrote:"Thank you," Honor said, equally quietly, then shook herself and turned back to her new flag captain. "Well, Captain Yu, it seems we've all come up in the world since last we met, doesn't it?"

Um, it was Alfreda Yu, whose first name it took Honor a long time to use, Not Warner. Sorry, my bad.

I also like the warmth between Gwen Archer and Helga Boltitz. Sure, it seems to have possibilities, but a friendship was formed first. A very trusting friendship. Helga was a tough nut to crack. I thought Archer would crash and burn. I like the part Helen played with them.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Actually, the one that intrigues me most is the one between Caparelli and White Haven. Rivals since boyhood and coming from different social strata, what started as guarded and uneasy respect has developed into a close and trusting working partnership.

I love the Mayhew kids and Nimitz back in the early days when Nimitz was the lone treecat on Grayson. I'd of liked to have seen someone threaten those kids in Nimitz' presence. Like 'The Thing' ... It's shredding time!

This would be a fight as well-matched as Battle Fleet versus the RMN. But I'd eagerly read it anyway! :)

Love Honor and Andrea. Their story arc in Ashes of Victory is one of the things that makes it among my favorite Honorverse titles ever.

Okay, I know Mr Weber has always made it clear that the series would focus on humans, and that any aliens in the books would only ever take a secondary role in the storyline. That is fine with me.

However, one of the things I've always loved about sci-fi is the speculation about alien species, what their physical appearance and societies would be like, how that would be informed by their physical environment, and how they would interact with each others.

While I agree that the earlier books' depiction of Nimitz was really great, I have to say that I much prefer the later books when we see more treecats appearing in the books, precisely because it allows us to see how they interact with each other, rather than with humans only.
