When our friendly neighborhood PICA did in the Inquisitors on the river- I believe Merlin had the thought that he might have left the "duty" to OWL's remotes.

What do they look like?

For that matter, what do the remotes look like that tack up broadsides?

Or our rockthrower notewriter in Corisande?

Is there a robot army out there? (an invisible robot army)

Ah, You are staring into to abyss of mystery. Seriously, I'm not aware of text ev on this subject nor of anything in the pearls. Does anyone else know of anything that might give us a hint?

We Don't have textev AFAIR but you could interpolate from the given information about the abilities and therefore the physical properties. That is, if there ist "the remote" and not different special purpose remotes, even fabricated by Owl.

IIRC, there is an early description of a SNARC and its subsidiary remotes in OAR.

Later references to individual remotes suggest a SNARC's subsidiaries are mosquito or gnat sized or smaller. The SNARC itself is a control node for the remotes as well as a general purpose "drone" with extensive stealth capability including visible light stealth -- i.e. it is invisible for all practical purposes.

It would have been a SNARC that "threw" the rock and posts the broadsides.

Yes, to all of that- however, it would take bigger than a gnat to do broadsides-and to shoot things- You're suggesting an actual SNARC?

(Actually, I was hoping that Himself might be forthcoming on the topic of remotes)

Of course and actual SNARC -- in it's role as a general purpose drone.

OWL probably could dispatch an actual general purpose drone for those tasks, but SNARCs are all over the planet already, so why bother.

That is a good question!

In fact, I had thought the remotes were used on the Army cleansers of Sarkin. When Rayno told Clyntahn that the commander, the second in command, the third in command, and those that had distinguished themselves in the murder of Sarkin were all killed, and there was no textev that Seijin Dailiyd Mab killed them, I interpreted that as saying that Owl's remotes had got them.

Hi Hank Plantagenet,

Given we have textev that Merlin had a microscopic remote on Hector's shoulder in BSRA, and thought about sending it into his ear to kill him, they're pretty small despite having fusion reactors, which Hector didn't notice either the mass or waste heat of, as well as other references to their minute size.

So wagering on OWL's remotes killing those officers and enlisted has favorable prospects, probably directed by Nahrmahn.

I agree with that hypothesis. However, I would imagine there would have to be a different type of remote involved that would be able to handle and shoot a rifle, and carry a knife to cut the throats of the Sarkyn troops.

I would guess that Federation Tech-level remotes don't need a rifle or pistol to accelerate a bullet to killing speeds or need a knife to cut someone's throat. A remote wouldn't even need to be as big as a bullet to pick it up and accelerate towards the target before releasing it.

In any case, a SNARC seems to be big enough to handle that kind of task in its general purpose remote role.
