My apologies if you thought I was knocking bisexuals, but we have no textev that either is bi, and quite a bit that Mike is very hetero.

While that doesn't mean anything to some bi, who among other things claim we're all bisexual at some point, I believe most hetero would disagree.

Regarding forgetting Stacy's 2 dialogues with her dad in HAE, mea culpa; but we haven't had any since, so it's been 17 years.

Oh, don't worry, I don't think you're a bigot. I think you're a monosexual who doesn't know jack about what being bisexual really means - how could you, since you're not one? Michelle could quite easily be an 80/20 bi, with a strong preference for men. It's only rarely a 50/50 split. Some people go through phases. Some people have the capability to fall for/have sex with both, but prefer one over the other. Michelle could quite easily prefer sex with men, only to fall in love with a woman.

(On the other hand, I very much doubt Stacy Hauptman would be that woman. Obviously Michelle is destined to fall in love with Lester Tourville and give the Grand Alliance leadership fits of diplomatic glee. )

In any case, my biggest - which is to say only - problem was the knee-jerk assumption that because Michelle has had sex with men - on a regular basis, and quite enthusiastically - she couldn't conceivably like women as well. Obviously it's a very touchy subject with me, since it's so personal. Whether intentional or not, that's something called "bisexual erasure", and if I can point it out, I will.

No hard feelings? :D 8-)

Back to business!!

I want more Michael Oversteegen. I mean, I know he's kicking around Talbott, and I love seeing him, but I want him to be a POV character again - there's a reason "The Service of the Sword" is my all-time favourite of the short stories, and it's not just because of Abigail Hearns.

I think that was an XKCD comic. Character is asked that question, and replies "Probably."

I'm still waiting for Khumalo to call Dame Estelle by her first name. Even if only in private! I'd think they're far and away close enough to have gotten to that point, even if it's only when they're not dealing with official business!

You do realize that due to audience demographic concerns, Baen limits David to one wedding every 3 books or so, right?

I'd like to see Nimitz make rank. Ensign Nimitz, but then, would that break regs, an officer and a gentleman?

Rivka and Roger were a state wedding. Don't count.

(I just pulled that statement out of my ass, if you couldn't tell. )

Besides, Augustus and Estelle need at least a book or so of romancing each other before they get properly married. I'm talking late-night com calls for no reason at all, Loretta and Victoria and all their staff cackling because the two are oblivious to the fact that Literally Everyone Knows and actually think they're keeping their romance secret, quick kisses just before going into meetings, the Honorverse equivalent of phone sex when they can't be together, Michelle laughing her head off because it is So Obvious... romantic development, people! They can't just get married out of the blue!

Nope. Can't just get married out of the blue. Gotta let it brew, awhile, to give Elizabeth a chance to consider the perfect gift. She was spot on with Emily's, Honor's and Hamish's mixed Grayson-Manticoran wedding rings. And everyone knows that part of the fun of marriage is all of the gifts. Your spouse may divorce you, but you get to keep the toaster.

It was a love match that happened to require that the state accept the fact and drape it with ceremony. Does count.

Now when Joanna marries that nice Mayhew boy, THAT might be a state wedding. Except neither family would exert (much) pressure.

Now remind me again. Who is the favored matchup for Abigail? Mateo? Helen (should any thing happen to that pretty but otherwise uninteresting Paulo)?

OMG. You've got me doing it now.

Thank goodness someone else said it. A totally uninteresting Paulo. And it ain't just because I'm jealous. Never fails. Unrealistically beautiful people are always hung up on their looks.

I mean really, how can we not hate Paulo because he's beautiful, when Paulo hates Paulo because he's beautiful?

If you don't like being drop-dead gorgeous, then just drop dead.
