I am wondering if MWW/RFC has been told to back off and not to snippet by Tor.

His last tiny snippet was in Apr and there hasn't been a peep from him since. I was told he has been on other forums like Honorverse. I don't play there so I can't confirm it. When I looked at the posts there I didn't see any started by MWW/RFC

It seems strange with the amount of information he posted during the run up to LAMA that now there is nothing. I am not talking just about snippets, I am talking about all the other post from money, designs, insights, production, ect. MWW/RFC lived to throw data out to make his reader guess what was coming and explain why he did things his way in his books. After Apr there is total silence form MWW/RFC on the Safehold forum. What is there is stale rehashing for lack of any guidance from the author.

Was LAMA sells that bad?

I'm generating a list of RFC postings and I am attempting to keep the latest ones up-to-date.

It is at `http://web.ncf.ca/et116/RFC-Posts.htm`

(The list is in date order)

(Use the title to get to the end of the list.)

Hope this helps

Hmm. stupid idea snippets are like chumming your favorite fishing hole keeps us nibbling until he hooks us with the next book. However large corporations are not known for common sense

I have not heard he was told not to. I figure he wants to finish the book before he releases snippets. He probably wants to be 100% sure he isn't going to go back and change stuff around. Plus he has been hanging out in Honorverse land. He tends to focus on one branch of the forums over another.

I would be amazed if snippets from the first quarter of the SEVENTH book in a series had a negative effect on sales. At this point if you made it through the first six you have to have a pretty damn good idea on whats going on. Especially if you are dedicated enough to dig up the snippets in the first place.

Unless I've missed a trick, we have no word that HFQ has gone to the publishers nor has there been any announcement of a date of publication.

If I am right about this, we probably should keep our knickers on and not panic. I suspect snippets will be forthcoming in their appointed time.

I've been reading MWW snippets since the days of the old bar back in 98, and I don't recall him ever posting them before the first Draft was done, except for the odd out of order snip like what we've gotten. We usually do get a few more tastes than what we've gotten so far, but he's also never been this busy before.

I wouldn't expect anything before you see a tweet that the rough Draft is done.

Yep and that might still be a while. MWW had 160k words done as of May 15, 2014 (https://twitter.com/davidweber1). And he's currently collaborating on the 2nd Manticore Ascendant atm as well (https://twitter.com/davidweber1/status/480511762799030272).

For references, MTAT rough draft had 249,300 words (http://forums.davidweber.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2888).

TOR usually takes at least 6 months from the submission of the rough draft and publishing, so I'd say another February release is likely the earliest we'll see HFQ
