Yeah, I've posted a couple of stories... ;)
For those who think Kishimoto's ruined Naruto, check out the story Team 8 by S'TarKan, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2731239/1/Team-8. Now IMHO, that is an example of fanfiction as good as the original source. Shame that it's a Dead Fic...

Actually, he posted another chapter a few weeks ago, so NOT dead.

Also got into C.S. Forester. My first book of his was Captain from Con. I then moved on to woodman, Pope, Reeman/Kent, and a host of others.

Wow I was starting to think I was the only person on Earth who had read The Captain from Connecticut before reading any of the Hornblower books, though I also read The Ship between The Captain from Connecticut and Ship of the Line.

I read a lot of historical fiction mostly Age of Sail or World War II naval stories but also alternative history for everything from the 1600s to the Cold War and occasional mystery and fantasy novels.

Aside from Sci-fi, I read Tolkien & Military fiction, Found some really bad ones (Don’t recommend "Stars & Stripes Forever/In Peril", he has Sherman running around like Beauregard lapdog & the U.S.S. Monitor (which could barely dent C.S.S. Virginia) blasts threw Warriors armored citadel like tissue paper. That’s when I tossed both books in the used bin & didn’t go back to them. "Rising Sun Victorious" had several authors some were good, some not so good) but mostly Military History, in particular Naval history (steam to carrier mostly – my favorite is Pre-Dreadnought to WWI).

Almost only counts in Horseshoes and Nuclear Weapons. I almost got the Hand-Grenade out the window does not count.

Mystery. Hillerman, Doherty (who can spend three paragraphs describing how a dog pees), Kantner, and others.

Well, where do I start?

For starters, I have a few of Kiplings novels and short story collections.

Then I have all 21 of Enid Blytons Famous Five stories, along with a small chunk of her other books.

As far as I know, I've got all of Pratchetts Disceptld books, plus a few others.

I have a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories, along with the Lost World/Poison Belt and the collection of short stories from the Strand Magazine.

Edit: not mentioned Cussler, Clancy, the small chunk of 1632, Dale Brown, couple of Larry Bonds, the Dune series (I know, sci-fi again), Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, C S Lewis (Narnia), my Fighting Fantasy books, Jpe Denvers "Lone Wolf" series, my very few Leslie Chateris books (The Saint)... I know there's a shedload more I've forgotten

Hell, maybe I'll photograph my shelves when I get sorted out at last...

Would you believe Mills and Boon romances.
You can pick then up for peanuts from second hand stores, most of them are decent, the book itself easily fits in the back pocket of a pair of jeans, and if you loose it who cares.

A little like SciFi books used to be in the 1970's before they all went epic. Like the old Conan and Thongor or a whole bunch of other scifi. About a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick.

I just finished listening to the audiobooks 1491 and 1493 by C. C. Mann.

Just came back from a 1600 mile road trip. It is difficult to read and drive at the same time. But I have the books. Pictures, maps and graphs work better in paper books.

The story of Jamestown is so different from what I got in school.

Has anyone read and like the Atlantis series, by Robert Doherty? https://www.goodreads.com/series/64135-atlantis

What about the Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan?
