The two step system for getting things to work..... :

1. RTFM.

2. If one didnt work, stop lying and RTFM.

The "War Against The Fallen" mentioned in the books was actually a war between Langhorne's followers after Langhorne's death.

According to David Weber, after the destruction of the Alexandria enclave and the death of Langhorne, there was a "leadership" crisis among the surviving crew which lead to a war between the factions with had "mortals" fighting on all sides.

Whole bunch of years ago the company I worked for was presented with a couple of test/example telephone exchanges to trial. The manuals were all in Sweedish.

Assumes it ever worked in the first place... (been there...)
I have had numerous encounters with hardware and software designed by new graduate engineers that is utterly unsuitable for purpose (i.e. worked sort of in the lab but was really too squirrelly in operation for commercial sale (i.e. Windows 1 springs to mind (although Windows Vista is a close second)) or has a poorly concealed fatal (sometimes literally) flaw.
