O.K. I've thought about this for awhile. And really all I have are questions :)

First, I thought the hidden base was under Lake Pei. It would be easy to get to, it's right next door. But then I thought. What about Winter, how are you going to get out of the ICE? You could get out but every now and then, there'd be a hole in the ice. And that might be seen!

Then, I started running into problems thinking that the hidden base was under some mountain. Like the cave, how did they get from the temple to this tech base. Is there a road headed up some hill that has a sign. ARCHANGEL's only, Do not pass this point! NO? So how about a transport system under the temple to this base?

Or did they have a computer like Owl to remote the ships? If they did it like this the hidden base could be full of Nitrogen and alot of the storage problem would be fixed.

IMO there's only two choices for storing Technology "owned" by the winners of the "War Against The Fallen". First would be under the Temple and second would be on TFNS Hamilcar (assuming that it still existed.

They built the Temple and it would be easier for them to create a hidden storehouse under the Temple that to build one elsewhere. Since we don't know if the TFNS Hamilcar still exists, we can't be sure one way or the other if they stored their high-tech stuff on it.

I doubt that Kau-yung and Shan-wei's faction stored high tech elsewhere than Nimue's cave. After all, why build another storehouse when you have Nimue's cave? Note, here I'm talking about high tech, it is still possible that Shan-wei created other storehouses of knowledge of the past similar to the one that exists in Tellesberg.

As for the pro-Langhorne losers in the "War Against The Fallen", I doubt that they were able to build anything similar to Nimue's cave. They won't have the time and couldn't do it secretly. Remember Kau-yung and Shan-wei created Nimue's Cave before the main fleet arrived at Safehold.

In addition, during the "War Against The Fallen" the factions that finally lost likely did not see the need to create secret storehouses. After all they didn't know that they'd lose.

After they lost, assuming they weren't killed immediately, they'd be too busy hiding themselves to build a secret storehouse of any size. It's possible that gadgets belonging to them survived but anything the size of (or larger) their shuttles/aircraft was likely found by the winners centuries ago.

Now it's possible that some of the winners were able, after the War, to create small scale "hide-a-ways" but the question is why?

Considering what we're learning about Schueler, he might have created a "hide-a-way" but we just don't know for sure. :)

There is one place, where only winners of the war have acces - Rakurai. Why not store weapons or constructors in landing pods in a storage inside that facility. Easy to call for it from Temple, if you need it.

We know the Temple itself was built after (or during) the war with the Fallen Angels. All that construction equipment to build it had to be stored somewhere (since it hadn't been used in ~150 years since the "birth" of safehold) and it hasn't been seen since. Given that it was needed once to rebuild the Temple, a necessary that was completely unforseen - I would think any rational, sane leader (Trust me, I laughed as I typed that....) would see that having it available in the event it was needed again would be "a good thing", and put it back in whatever repository they were stored in.

I can't remember when the Hamilcar was supposedly destroyed. It might have been the storage facility, but the iron ore cave seems like a better place, all things considered.

Prior to the war, the pro-tech fores did have a technological storehouse - it was called the Alexandria Enclave. If they had a hidden stash of equipment for their use, it would be there.

Personally, If I were Merlin, I would do as thorough a search of Armagedon Reef as possible to make sure Shanwei didn't bury a repository so deep the bombardment system couldn't get to it. Though she wasn't thinking specifically about the bombardment system, there are other natural disasters (up to and including the Gabba) that would make a deep bunker repository a good idea for mankind's future.

Hi Theemile

Merlin might not find anything at the site of the Rakurai disaster.

If I were one of Langhorne's opponents, I would, in light of the surprise attack on the enclave, squirrel bits and pieces of technology in many places in the hopes that, if things turned out badly, at least SOME technology could possibly be discovered at some later date.

AND I would make sure that NO-ONE knew of all the hiding places.

And yes, I WOULD include user manuals with the hidden technology !!

All we know about the TFNS Hamilcar is that it's gone.

That is, it's not currently orbiting Safehold and we didn't have a scene where its destruction was seen or mentioned.

David Weber was quoted as saying that "it's gone" no more no less.

It may have been destroyed but David Weber hasn't said that it was destroyed.

RFC has indicated that the Hamilcar carried a full manufacturing plant, and that it was used to rebuild the Rakurai, and to build the Temple, too. The Hamilcar was destroyed or otherwise disappeared sometime after the Angelic Wars (after the new Rakurai and the Temple were built, apparently). So there is no particular reason to hypothesize any other storage facility for the construction equipment--we know it had been aboard the Hamilcar.

Was it moved off the Hamilcar? Or is the Hamilcar still around, hidden somewhere? Maybe. But we have no evidence on which to base that hypothesis, just hopeful wishes for hidden tech somewhere.
