We know that the dohlaran and tarot crews were stranded on Armageddon reef. The tarot members are likely in the imperial navy but, have all the dohlaran crews trickkled their way home yet.
Also, the harchong and temple guard crews from the navy of god, what are happening to them. Will some be send to Armageddon reef, sidemark, or simply some POW camps? THe best use for them would be terraforming uncalimed land, if they want to survive, they need to prepare the lands properly. SO of like the Haven prison planet, since they could not eat any local organis, they were controlled by food deliveries. |

IMO Armageddon Reef isn't (and wasn't) a POW camp.
The crews left there in OAR have likely returned home by now as Cayleb had left them a supply ship. While the supply ship couldn't take them all off, there were no Charisian ships preventing additional ships being sent to "rescue" the crews. In addition, Armageddon Reef has disadvantages as a place to hold POWs. I suspect Charisians also consider it a "Cursed Place" and won't want to be based there to prevent POWs from escaping. Also, it is "off the beaten path" even for the ICN so it is "too out of the way" to be used as POW camps. Cayleb left the enemy crews there only because he didn't want the trouble of transporting them elsewhere and that's were they were captured.

I always thought, it was terraformed! And by that I mean, before it was Armageddon reef it was Alexandria and there were people living there. And would they have lived on unterraformed land?

Parts of it were terraformed but other parts likely were not. After all, we know that Siddarmark (for example) contains lands that haven't been terraformed yet.
On the other hand, we don't know how permanent terraforming is. IE would a terraformed area revert to "native Safeholdian lifeforms" without human care-taking? It has been centuries since there has been permanent human settlements there. On the gripping hand, we don't know if humans can survive on native Safeholdian plants and animals or not. It's possible that humans could live for a few years on some native plants and animals.

Would the terraforming have held for eight centuries or would have native flora and fauna reestablished dominance. .
. . Answers! I got lots of answers! (Now if I could just find the right questions.) |

Do you think the terraforming survived the bombardment by kinetic energy weapons that turned the area into a string of islands? --------------------------------------------

If I remember correctly there were some that survived. They were moved over to the mainland to be witness's to what happened. So if some people survived, I think some of the land did too. Now if the terraformed land was able to last 800 years, that I don't know.. |

The people who survived the bombardment were in a tiny section of Alexandria which was deliberately spared bombardment so that there would be witnesses. It is conceivable that terraforming has survived there. But in the rest of Alexandria, which was bombarded into craters and reefs? The area turned into Armageddon Reef? I don't think it is possible that terraforming survived that. --------------------------------------------

Hi Guys I hope RFC sheds some light on the use of all those POW's in the next book. So far, all we have is that there are thousands and thousands of captured enemies and no word on what these people are doing other than being treated humanely and being fed. Surely, the POW's must be used for more than sitting around occupying space and consuming resources and food. ??Comments?? R . ..//* *\\

Hi Kbuss888,
First of all there weren't that many to bring back, Admiral White Ford and most of his fleet wasn't sunk, and Thirsk only had 60- odd galleys before Cayleb's night attack and may have had only 50 crews left to live on the island until the rescue ships left, so if the supply ship ran into White Ford they might have been picked sooner than later. Do you seriously think an admiral of Thirsk's integrity would leave any of his sailors behind before he left in the very last ship? Just think about it if you haven't, and I think you'll find the answer you may have missed before. My father was on the 24th Divarty staff through the first7-8 month's of the war, and he often repeated the story of how the general [a WW2 ETO divisional CG] pushed to ensure all his men had winter clothing; when he was finally assured they all had what they needed, this was early December, he then ask the S-4 [Supply officer] to request a 46 Long for him. I rather strongly doubt Thirsk left anyone behind. L
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!
