SWM wrote:When I raised the question "Does she think Merlin will keep it a secret as well?", it should have been phrased "Who does she think Merlin will tell?" It is an even more interesting question.

She deliberately did not tell anyone else at the meeting she was just at, but she told Merlin. So she either she didn't want everyone at that meeting to know, or she wanted Merlin to be the one to tell them, or she wanted Merlin to decide which of them to tell. And she didn't tell Merlin which of those cases applied! Apparently she is trusting Merlin's discretion with this information; she expects him to decide what to do with the information. That is very interesting. And leads back to the questions of "Why now?" and "What does she think she knows about Merlin?"

Does she expect him to tell Cayleb? Probably. Other seijin? Maybe (assuming she doesn't know about Merlin's multiple identities), since it could affect their own intelligence gathering. But she might, for some reason having to do with either her plans for Merlin or what she "knows" about Merlin, think Merlin will keep this as a personal confidence between herself and Merlin and tell almost no one. If we knew what Aivah expects Merlin to do with the information, we might have some better guesses to the other questions she didn't answer.

Thoughts?

If Aivah asks him to keep the meeting secret, he could tell her he wouldn't share it with a living soul and still share it with Nimue, Nahrman, and OWL. :D

Seriously, I imagine that Cayleb and Sharlyn will watch reruns, and Nahrman is fast enough to catch most of it in real time if Merlin's sensors are accessible. I doubt they will add much insight, but you can be sure that Nahrman and OWL will be going over everything they have on her in the finest detail.

I still suspect Aivah's servant of being more than she appears to be.

And why doesn't Aivah have a nano-bug on her all the time?

And did Merlin ever attempt to inject Aivah with the medical nanites? Did he get a copy if her DNA?

I think that your description doesn't describe the situation accurately. The fans isn't just twisting in the wind, they are as always holding on for dear life in a gale-force of speculation.

This is a perfect reason to make a Merlin copy (again from the original Nimue template), so Merlin can deny being Abrahim and have "Abrahim" walk in a few days later to join Merlin and crush any doubt in any one's minds that there isn't a secret force of Seijins?

Rofl. This is giving me Superboy flashbacks. (Which won't mean much to anyone who didn't read those comics back in the 50s and 60s. Imagine a closet full of robot Superboys.)

I resemble that remark :!: :!:

Besides, can you imagine the tales generated from 2 Seijins sparing with each other?

Would not those tales be just as wild if Nimue beat Merlin 2 out of 3 in a hand-to-hand contest, but Merlin beat her 2 out of three with their katanas, while it was a dead heat on the pistol and rifle ranges?

Now that you mention it, those seem to be fairly basic questions. OK, VERY basic questions. I suspect that the answers would give us FAR more information than RFC wants us to have. I have said before and will again that she is even more important than we may think.

Merlin tends not to bug his friends. He considers it an invasion of privacy.

Now wait a minute... We know that Merlin had a bug on Cayleb because he knew about Cayleb telling the others that the Seijin had gone to meet some people and was delayed.

I suspect that if Merlin wants to give the others privacy, and I suspect he does, then he lets OWL monitor the feeds and report anything of concert to Merlin and Nimue. But I would certainly want a bug on all the critical people in the Republic, if for no other reason than to locate them if they were abducted.

They would be even wilder - Nimue being a <GASP!> woman and all.....

Hi BobG,

That was a special occasion, not his SOP, I believe.

I agree privacy is probably the main reason for his reticence, but between Sharleyan and Olyvya plus Sahndrah Lywys, NTM the Convent associated with St Zherneau, there ought to be enough women to monitor Aivah and other women that ought to be inside including Howsmyn's wife as well as other insider spouses.

The advantages of quick communications for other marriages should be shared.

The inner circle needs more women!
