At the moment "Shanwei" is a word used to describe Devil and Langhorne name can be misused in the same way that people mis-use "God" or "Jesus Christ today."

Post the truth going out what if any names will be used to describe "devil" or names that people can use to blaspheme?

Any suggestions?

Or will the misuse of any deities names cease altogether?

Langehorn the Liar and Bedard the Biotch come to mind.

Most likely Schueler the sadistic, scumsucking, SOB. Anyone willing to not only condone but demand the use of honest-to-goodness-not-just-waterboarding-physical-torture in the service of a lie is worthy of having his name used as a curse or epithet.

I would guess that swearing on deities would go out of fashion because religion is going to get even more controversial on Safehold when the general populace learns the truth. After all, you have to believe in a deity to invoke its name, plus you might start a fight with the person next to you, depending on what they believe. Swearing will probably invoke bodily functions, as it mostly does in the US these days, or some other physical phenomenon.

On a related note, I imagine that when they re-invent the Internet someday, a forum thread will be considered over when someone compares his opponent to Clyntahn.

In the Prince Roger series, one of the officers is an Armaghan Satanist, a religion that came about because the original christian settlers had a schism about whether or not to hold Mass in Latin and the situation devolved from there.
After a group that held that religion was not a reason to kill each other were referred to by all the other warring parties as Satan Spawn, they decided to appropriate the appellation and created their own religion which they based on their records of Wicca with their mythology claiming that the Evil Angels (led by Gabriel) had imprisoned God and thrown the Loyalist Angels (led by Lucifer) out of Heaven, thus it was the duty of all righteous Satanists to prepare for they day when they helped to storm Heaven and restore God to His throne.

I fully expect that after the truth is revealed, the Church of Shan-Wei will spring up with Saint Merlin being her Earthly Avatar (much to poor Merlin's embarrassment and Nimue's amusement).

What will people say when shocked? Probably something like "By Merlin's sword!"

Uncertain, but in the past, many UK Law Enforcement agencies have cursed Group 4...

Now you've done it. I'm going to have to go ahead and re-read the Prince Roger series. It will give me something to do while waiting for HFQ, multiverse III, or next Honorverse.
