If no one is being raised to the council of vicars, do we know what are the rules for voting. The purge of reformists, took out about 10% of the council. We know that it took out reformists and any that would oppose the group of 4. That does not mean there is not the possibility of competition. They would love to the ones in control o the church, they may want to get with of the Go4, but not necessarily the nicest of people. THey need not kill enough to create a majority against the four, just enough to break the 4's majority and the leaders of their factions.

Even if the GO4 did lose their majority support, that does not mean they are out of power. IIRC, Clyntahn LOST the election to the Grand Inquisitor's chair -- he (with Rayno's help) then just cheated and got elected anyway. So, even without a majority, the GO4 could do the same. ??Comments?? R .

Not the Go4, Clyntahn. I think it's clear that the rest of the Go4 would like Clyntahn gone.
For that matter, I suspect that even in an honest vote of the Vicars right now, Clyntahn would "win" support. IMO too many Vicars would be afraid to vote against him. They'd be sure that Clyntahn could/would find out who voted against him. IMO to remove Clyntahn and his supporters from power, it will take force.

I think we can safely assume that the GO4 is modelled on the 1930's and 40's Nazi party (who polled 35% in their last election before they just seized power). You don't need majority support to be unassailable - just feared by the majority more than the other alternative (dead men don't vote (at least, against the government)). |

are vicars supposed to visit their places of responsibility? Say enough are terrified in to actually going to do their job, they could allow a majority to be formed out side zion.

It seems to me, with the assassinations of Vicars an additional target should be Rayno. This is the person that gives Clyntahn his organizational strength and actually runs the day to day efforts of the Inquisition.
Clyntahn will be brought down by RFC in a unique way, taking down the organization of the Inquisition is a greater effort. Charis is killing the individuals where ever they can get their hands on them, The Inquisitors have to have some trepidation when out on duty near the 'Infidels' If Rayno gets hit, that assassination could not be hid and it would not be a Vicar but an Inquisitor which is fair game by Charis standards. Charis would get the blame/credit but it would give pause to all in the Temple I am not young enough to know everything!

if charis starts hitting inquisitors, the other vicars could join in hoping that charis will get the blame?

Quite possibly, but I think Clyntahn weeded out any Vicar with 'Huevos Grande' some time ago. Opposition to a very major extent was drawn and quartered in the cental plaza. I am not young enough to know everything!

sure the vicars are terrified, but if the inquisition and it's master is defied and no one brought to judgement, they may fear the wrath of the silent killer instead.
I have an idea, instead of killing the vicars, kidnapp thewm, so they are drugged, no memory of the actual even, put in stasis then released in their area of responsibilities, in their bed, after the time it would take to travel there via safehold tech. They could go to the group of 4 and claim they were kidnapped only, to be safely returned home far from the city. but more likely to be punished as traitors. even the most lyal priests would be seen as suspect after such an event. |
