We all think at some point Aivah Pahrsahn, will be made a part of the inner circle, she is really very briliant. I was just imagine what she could do with access to OWL. SHe already stole large numbers of people from the inquisition from zion itself, and she is likely the one killing vicars.
Sort of like how they waited for that industrialist to make enough crimes, that now taken before a judge and court, he will be suck dry of his money, and forced to sell off his business. THis all done simply using avialable records and information. This will force all the other industrialists into line and force them to comply with the rules. I was thinking the church has been corrupt for a long time, I wonder what would happen if their true financial histories were available. Our lovely lady would know just what to do with such information, who to send it to and how to apply pressure. |

Hi SYED,
Certainly Aivah's talents are under utilized at present, but can she accept all the inner circle entails? She still believes in the church according to Adorai, so learning its all false could be a terrible conflict, as has been posted here before. However the wonderful end of LaMA implies she knows or suspects something wonderful about Merlin/Ahbraim. Of course meeting Merlin late at night sets up the routine and opportunity to meet again at night when the 'Zion op' is triggered, nor will I be surprised if she spends the whole night [or most of it] in order to 'grow closer' as RAH put it, though without any of the shower scenes demanded by other posters. Further CoGA financial papers could be very useful, but I suspect the alliance may consider publishing at least some of what she already gathered and sent now that they have unequivocal victories with more soon to come with BGV and Symkyn probably obliterating their respective foes. Publishing any such finds via OWL's broadsheets will be more useful than any plot scheming in Zion or the temple with what's left of any opposition. L
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

She has to know that the only way he can travel the waybhebhas is with proscribed knowledge. The only way she couldn't realize that would be if her brain suddenly leaked out of her ears one day in the bath. If Heinlein was the author, I'd consider it plausible, but as we all know, RFC likes strong, capable women.

I don't think you've read Heinlein.

I feel like in every Heinlein novel, women can be smart and capable, until they're paired up with a male character, then off scene it seems that her brains leak out of her ears. Have Spacesuit Will Travel, Kip's mom is a math genius in her own right, but you never see it. It's probably only mentioned to explain why Kip is so smart. Good genes, you know. Same book, Peewee steals an alien ship and engineers an escape from their prison off stage, but as soon as she's with Kip, she gets docked most of her IQ and surrenders all of her initiative, until she's separated from him, at which time her IQ and initiative return in time to save him.
Agent Friday was slavishly devoted to and absolutely dependent upon the boss, etc etc. I'm not saying you can't see a solid example of female characters doing something worthwhile in a Heinlein book, its just not on a level with Robert Jordan, where the two most powerful individuals outside the Car'a'carn himself and his two lackeys (with all due respect to Masters Cauthon and Aybarra) are women, or RFK where Death outscources the jobs that absolutely positively must be done to a certain one armed, 'cat wielding cyclone of doom. .

I have just finished rereading Glory Road, and find some of comments on Heinlein correct, and some wrong. You need to break the Juvenile fiction (say prior to Starship Troopers) away from the last works of his career. If you do female characters break into two groups : the strong characters and those suffering from brain leakage in the presence of leading male character (the juvenile fiction). It partly may reflect a transition from a socialists with military background to a western libertarian.
I still think his comments on military advisors, and combatants illuminating. Since a few of my classmates were military advisors in the early 60's in southeast asia its something I understand Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere

Even if they dont admit her to the inner circle, give her a job in intelligence department. Imagine what she could do if fed reports from merlin. and access to the seijin network.
