How many captured rifles have been added to the Siddarmark army from the recent battles?

And what other loot would of have been added?

Low thousands as the Army of Justice collapses. However in a war of movement thre might not be time to divert troops to collect them, and in any case the PBI are much less in number than they were so that number might still be high.

Presumably a number of rather nice tents will be available, complete with wine cellars. Not much in the way of horses, dragons, or regular supplies though.

In the Second World War during the Italian long retreat I remember reading that among the spoils surrendered at Beda Fomm was a mobile brothel! Not an impossible parallel I suspect.

Hi Alistair,

Only a third of the IDA infantry had rifles ie ~208 out of 625 nominal enlisted of 690 men in each regiment.

The LaMA textev regarding the AoJ states it has less than 60,000 infantry which reduces the 90 regiments I thought it had, to ~86 for a maximum of only ~17,888 for an initial field force exceeding 175,000 men, which is really pathetic and indicative of how inept the IDA was from the conception of the AoJ through its operational experience to its eventual execution by DE.

The RDA was almost as bad, averaging about 512 rifles per regiment (2/3 of its infantry regiments had 3 rifle companies [192 rifles in each] and 2 smooth-bore, while the other third reversed that ratio) with perhaps around 40 infantry regiments since we don't know if Rychtyr kept his 10 regiments when they were split up, for around 20, 480 rifles; bearing in mind ~35% escaped NTM they probably grabbed rifles from the dead or injured whenever possible so my top range is only around 25,000 rifles available or likely to be captured before any damaged are eliminated.

OTOH, as I've pointed out before we're told the AoS had 'hundreds' of cannon and so I expect at least a couple hundred to be a considerable part of the booty that will go almost immediately to the RSA (after checking the IDA's), who despite almost 2 years of experimenting and EoC advisers doesn't seem to be producing much in the way of field artillery yet, despite producing all its old artillery before the SoS.

Then there are all those dragon wagons, if not as many dragons, the fine carriages and limbers, all those horses, NTM all the officer's servants, who were non combatants; how many are glad to be free?

What they might be willing to share regarding their master's secrets?

What might they share regarding various noble family secrets?

There might be riches beyond diamonds uncounted by mere tallies of equipment captured.

L

Good point on the secrets... though I suspect most of it is already picked up by the snarks

HOw much gear would the survivors really abandon to escape the massacre? They were having logistical problems to begin with, and they were facing a hefty march home. Would they attempt to simply walk home or get to the canal and get to a safe place quicker?
They need food to get home, and weapons to survive. Would they attempt to stick together or go ttheir seperate way?
If the army remains that reach home can reach fortified positions to hold back the enemy, with shortened logistics and fixed defences. they may be too costly for the republic to waste men on. They may be forced to block the canals to deny them easy acces to the country.

Historically, a routed army has given no thought to anything except escape. Some individuals have been known to strip down to their small-clothes to remove any possible evidence that the were part of the defeated army.

Most would retain any food and enough clothing for the weather. Weapons, Pack, and anything that will impede the escapees would be abandoned.

A small percentage -- maybe 25% -- would retain the trappings of a soldier and retreat in some semblance of good order.

YMMV -- every rout is unique.

How much of the Dohlan army was sent to war and how much survived? Counting in the simpler logistics and developed fortified positions, can what left of the army defend against the forces of the republic and imperium looking for pay back. I bet the inquisition will want to place someone more reliable in charge of the navy, so charis cant take or destroy it if they mess up dohlar by land.
The church is going to have to pay the widows and dependants of those slain. wiil they baulk or pony up?
I hope all the towns those POWs were paraded in are burned to the ground.

I think that the church is shortly going to be preoccupied with what is going on closer to home than Dohlar. And by the time it all shakes out, I doubt that they will be in a position to pay anyone much of anything.

Well, right off the top, there's all that iron in the horse shoes.

Four shoes to a horse-200,000 horses....

Who gets the loot, the republic or the empire? To keep a better reputation, the wealth of the churches will be given to their own priests, who then can invest it to better serve the people. I can see an argument that the commoners should mainly be left alone, while nobles and their estates bear the brunt of raiding. Will treasure be reserved for the government or will the soldier earn a share?
Merlin would be free to act in secret in these lands and blame the acts on the military.
