Aivah is a PICA, she was in the past the Sejin Kolby – originally a man. She is now a female PICA and meets Merlin - a woman passing as a male PICA. The resulting confusion leaves them hopelessly in love. Merlin & Aivah get married.

Sorry but one character knew Aivah as a baby so unless David Weber is lying to us, Aivah isn't a PICA.

Well, this was presented to us as absurd, wasn't it? Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Drak So on the theme, Perhaps it is all a cover. The immortal will have to have some way to change personas on a regular schedule. We have the story of the baby whisked away. raised by the nuns and adopted to a high brow family that raised her to be a Courtisan to the Vicars. I am not young enough to know everything!

He's always given us clues that we've ignored in the past. The "Aivah is a PICA" crowd haven't showed us any clues that David Weber has given us.
I think I'm getting too serious here.

RFC Stated: “About Aivah/Nynian, I will say only this. She was born with the primary capability which has made it so difficult for Merlin to figure out how she communicates with her friends back home in the Temple Lands.”
]
With this comment I am reminded of such things as Nimue’s statement “I have known Merlin all my life” and “we studied under the same Masters” A true statement can be very accurate and True but means something entirely different. Especially in RFC’s pleasantly twisted mind. I am not young enough to know everything!

There's precedent for bits and bobs of technology scattered about.
I think it's very possible she might have some sort of limited communications technology. With how it works, I doubt it's as broad as Merlin's, though. My guess is some sort of 'spy' device from the temple that monitors one location, and if she needs information, they put a message there and she can read it. Something like that. |
