No. The law hasn't been changed, yet, in Corisande. Daughters (or sisters, in this case) can't inherit the crown. I think there was a mention in LAMA about waiting until Daivyn was old enough to rule on his own. Probably to make it clear that it was his decision. That means the current heir is a cousin. On the other hand, any sons Irys has will get into the line of succession before the cousins.

Yes but she's married to that bumped up Charisian commoner.

Seriously Peter, I see what you're saying and see the "good points" in him serving in the ICN.

However, while matters are better than they were regarding the people/nobles of Corisande accepting that they are part of the Charisian Empire, there would still be people worried about what might happen to their prince while he's serving as a ICN midshipman.

I can't see Cayleb, Sharleyan and the Regency Council risking the political fallout that would/could occur if something happened to Daivyn while he was serving as a ICN midshipman.

I wonder if this opens the possibility of Daivyn's more thorough introduction to the ICN? Learning how to rule isn't just a matter of learning managing bureaucratic systems but also learning how to leading people. The ICN is an excellent organization that can teach leadership to a young Prince.

Correct.

What the Archbishop had done involved Irys being Daivyn's guardian and involved her having a seat on the Regency Council.

As you said, there was mention of changing the law to allow her to take the throne if Daivyn died without an heir of his body but it was only "planning to change the law".

Totally agree, Drak. I don't see Daivyn serving as a midshipman. I do see him serving as an ensign and aid to Admiral Yardley or whoever commands the local defense squadrons around Corisande.

True enough. Yet, didn't Sharley add provisions in the Treaty to make Irys heir and guardian? Klairmant's prayer endorsed all the provisions of the treaty. So while the legalities might not be completed, she already stands as heir in the eyes of Corisande's Church.

Maybe MWW/RFC will give us a snippet on how Clyntahn takes the COCA military reversals. How much is left to destory in his apartment?

Or maybe the sea trail of EOC King Haralds. I think Admiral Yairley will get one, maybe even the first one. He been very visible in the last few book as a hard charging Admiral/Captain.

The first battle with the M96 rifles.

What the bars ideas of what they would like to see in the snippets.

Going back to the original question... Winter events in the Northland and Ohlahrn Gaps... Guarnak even, but that might be a bit greedy!

Actually Sharley only said that Irys should have a seat on the Regency Council and that Irys should be Daivyn's guardian.

Klairmant's prayer at the meeting of the Regency Council endorsed those provisions and made it clear that the Corisande's Church supported Corisande being part of the Empire.

Irys being Daivyn's heir was not part of the treaty so that is still up to Corisande's Parliament.

I believe the statement was made that the Council was going to approach the issue of a female being allowed to be in the succession but not until things had settled down and Daivyn was coronated. If before his coronation then Irys would have been the heir to the Throne.

Currently Corisande does not allow females in the succession. But will be coming soon to a regency near you.

No, I don't think so. IIRC, the rules in Corisande require the heir to be male. I know that many of the laws have been brought into conformity with the Empire. But I don't think that is one of them. Otherwise, wouldn't Irys be first in line over Daivyn due to her age?

Considering Irys' thoughts about her baby brother being Prince of Corisande, I wouldn't want to be the person telling her "Oh we want you to be the ruling Princess of Corisande".
