I'd like to have been on the bridge at that moment. With copious amounts of tissues to mop up all my hysterically ecstatic tears.

I could just see it. They enter the hyper limit, and the tactical desplay shows the Manty ships painted as red. The Squadron commander looks over and says to his TacO, "Now Marcus, they are no longer our enemy. They are helping us find and destroy our real enemy. Please designate them as such."

Has there ever been mention of someone executing a true up the kilt shot, that wasn't accidental?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I suppose it depends on what you mean by accidental. Regardless of how it happened, the officer who allowed it is probably arguing with St. Peter: "But sir, it was an accident!"

Try Ms. Midshipman Harrington. I think I remember that one as having one. Or the Battle of Ceberus.

Something that has always bothered me. In Honorverse warfare, pods are vulnerable to proximity kills. With all of the recent breakthroughs why is that still so? Can't pods just be released, if incoming fire could threaten them, then controlled remotely, away from the blast zone of the ship?

Because there has to be a justification for using SD(P)s rather than BC(P)s (with extra control links) towing pods from an ammunition ship. So once a pod is released by an attacker, the defense is assumed to know its exact position and is therefore trivially able to kill it given enough time, while system-defense pods that are positioned around the system are heavily stealthed and an attacker pretty much has to trip over them to have a chance at taking them out.

The difference is that system-defense pods have enough Handwavium to power their stealth systems.

Ah, Handwavium. That magical substance that does exactly what you need it to do. Tester bless it.

Or what I like to call BPSS: Because Plot Says So.

I've always wanted to know how long have the Mandarins been in power? Specifically Kolokoltsov, because he seems to be the leader of the quartet. I know the text states that he's been in politics for something like 80 years (or is it longer?) but how many of those have been as the Permanent Senior Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs where he functions as the de-facto and unofficial ruler of an entire star nation?

I figure that a large part of those 8 decades was spent just working his way up. I was curious because I wanted to know how his experience compares to Elizabeth's. I know she is younger than him but I wondered if she technically has more experience as an actual head-of-state than he does.

As a completely off-topic aside I also wonder about kind of weird and macabre things such as what did Montoya do with Honor's arm after he amputated it? :P

I think he did it quick and dirty, and left it behind on the Tepes. We all know what happened to everything aboard the Tepes.
