Because, you know.
At the time, it was an incalculable strategic asset to the side of the righteous during the War Against The Fallen. After the war, when...someone...was putting together the current Rakurai array, you'd need *something* to build the secondary defense platforms, and manufacture reloads (and smelt raw materials for same from somewhere?), and keep the entire contrivance maintained and operational (and fueled?) for the ensuing centuries. A last-generation Federation industrial ship would be just the ticket for that, especially one with milspec stealth systems and a full suite of AI loyal to the chief administrator of Operation Ark. And we know it was still there a few hours before the Alexandria Enclave died, because Word of RFC is that the weapon Langhorne used for that was concealed inside one of the ship's industrial modules until that point. It would also explain how they built the Temple. From the gestalt impression of the text when Nimue first beheld the Temple, I infer that a small planetary manufactory such as the one under the Mountains of Light could not have done the job. It sure wasn't built by the terraforming crews. |

Only David Weber knows and he isn't talking.

A really good question. In addition it occurs to me that a nice spot for hiding an industrial or at least a maintainence module would be beneath the temple...gotta keep those magical features up and running, ya know...

Which we haven't heard about at all yet - is there one? (for a stable planetary inclination one would be required). (Hiding things IN moon's springs to mind too). |

Safehold's Moon has been mentioned. IIRC it's named Langhorne.

Perish the thought! Btw, what type of ship was Langhorne? Utu-class perhaps? --- Jack of all trades and destructive tinkerer. Anyone who have simple solutions for complex problems is a fool. |

I can just see Nimue at the controls of an Utu-class planetoid, giving proper greetings to the Gbaba main fleet.
Might have to upgrade Owl a little, first. |

if there are still archangels, they would want to have as much technology to allow them to pass as the divine and aid them in dealing with the world.
So either there was stockpiled technology, or there was a way to create what they need. |
