Alex Trebek is shaking his head right now. Lol.

I knew someone was going to forget to phrase it in the form of a question.

So, you don't get the thousand-thanks, but you do get one. :D
Thanks.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

The name of the GA Chief of Staff is Tom Thiesman.

The Shingane convention was erected by the SL as an effort to stop the SKM from using higher transit rates or restricting access to the MWHJ to leverage the SL into keeping OFS away from systems like Idaho and Zunker(?) and to force the SL into "Sharing" some profit from a system worm hole terminus with those small, and defenseless systems. Like most SL efforts, it failed.

What I found interesting was that the two treecats who adopted Graysons weren't renamed by their new partners. I gathered from the series that the adoption and naming is a very private and meaningful event. Miranda and Rachel's treecats already came with "human" names that were merely there for convenience. I would've thought the girls would name the 'cats something more personal.

Naming is indeed quite personal, but I guess it need not be done by one's bondmate. I believe that unbonded 'cats have gotten names as well.

I would think so. For one thing, treecats need official status in case any are captured by the SLN, so they're treated as POWs rather than as 'dangerous animals'.

Another advantage: they can be put on celery.
Disadvantage: they'll have to wear ... dogtags.

Imagined conversation:
Admiral [noting yet another Manty tech surprise]:
XO, what's the budget for the ONI?
Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos.
Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money?

How ironic is that? A treecat wearing a dogtag?
Interesting foresight Bill.

I have two questions: what are the three occasions that Honor was awarded a wound stripe for?

Was she given one for when she lost her eye? And for when she was shot in the duel?

And the second: did Honor receive the Manticore Cross a second time and if so when? I've seen/read that she has a cluster on her MC award but I can't remember when/if it was stated where she won the second award.

She definitely did not receive a wound stripe for the duel. Duelling is not in the line of duty; in fact, it is frowned upon by the Navy. One is almost certainly when she lost her eye in HoTQ. She already had two wound stripes by the beginning of The Short Victorious War, so the other must have happened before then. That is the first mention of wound stripes. Perhaps she got the third for the escape from Tepes, in which she broke her arm (I don't think they would count being beaten while a prisoner).

She did receive the Manticore Cross a second time--this is described as Manticore Cross with Cluster. I'm not sure when she got the Cluster; I can't find it in the text. As of the beginning of In Enemy Hands, she still had just the plain Manticore Cross.

You're right. She already has the second wound stripe before Hancock. Perhaps it was for something that happened in Silesia or even pre-OBS? I do think the third was for losing the arm escaping Tepes. I consider that being wounded in the line of duty (even though IMHO she should've gotten two stripes for that wound).

I'm wondering if she received the cluster for the MC for the Battle of Cerberus and escaping Hades. The Navy wanted to give her the PMV for that but she refused so maybe they awarded her the MC a second time. I figured they would have insisted on giving her at least some sort of medal for it even if she wouldn't take the one they really wanted to give her.
