Searched, but didn't see this anywhere in the forum:
The Leather Bound OBS must have been a success as I found that there is to be a Leather bound HOTQ planned for June 3, 2014 on Barns and Noble.com http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/honor-of-the-queen-signed-leatherbound-edition-david-weber/1117322547?ean=9781476736488 Dang it, even without new books, he's still finding ways to get my money. |

How can they not be a success. My friends in Romania are requesting copies. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

A leatherbound OBS and a hardbound OBS. Sweet! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

The leatherbound OBS came out one year ago, for the 25th anniversary of the original publication. --------------------------------------------

Guess they are trying to do the entire series, now showing that TSVW will be available in leather bound edition in November 2014. Gotta start my Christmas list.

I wish I could find some news on exactly what is planned? I've been working on finding the hardcovers. I've purchased 18 so far, including the first two leather and have the third on order, but mostly the side series and compilations so far. If i knew "for sure" the main series was all coming out in leather I would stop buying used books and just wait for 'em. I really don't want to end up with $100 dollars in used books I'm going to end up replacing! (I know, I'm cheap).

For those who are interested, there are several companies/services which will bind your books in leather for you. For a fee, naturally, they'll do more then basic leather. They will etch the bindings, do impressions, lettering, etc. You can have any book leather bound. It's something I've considered for some of my books. When I have the money.

My current understanding is that Baen will do at least the first 5 books in leather, signed, limited editions. I believe the number per edition (I did say it was "limited," didn't I?) is set at 1,000 copies. One of the limiters on the total numbers is the smashed up nature of my right wrist, which is getting worse as I get older and the arthritis gets its teeth further into all those broken-up-and-patched-together bone fragments, plates, screws, and bits of wire. I think Baen would like to do the entire series of novels this way, but I don't know what the logistics on that would be and I [I]do/I] know that nor hard and fast decision has been made. Hope that helps. "Oh, bother!" said Pooh, as Piglet came back from the dead. |
