I infer from the title of the series that it should because the junction and its associated commerce expansion are what leads to Manticore ascending the ranks of galactic power. I've always wanted to see the Manties' (and everyone else's) reactions to the discovery of the junction. So much of how we view Manticore and its identity and uniqueness has to do with the junction and everything stemming from it. Now, we have a chance to see what it was like just before and just after its discovery. I hope we get a chance to see how Manticore and the RMN begin to grow into the utter bada$$es that we know and love.
I assume we'll at least see the wormhole found.
A Call to Duty ends in 1533 PD, from
House of Steel I think the date for the short story
A Call to Arms was 1538, and Manticoran Wormhole was discovered (first transit) in 1585 PD.
Even in a pre-prolong environment I'd expect Travis Long to be around by then (although likely retired).
Although HoS also tells us that the first big naval buildup was shortly after
A Call to Arms, which puts it well before the wormhole was surveyed and transited. I expect there's plenty of story to fill in those almost 50 years before discovery.
Due to that I wouldn't be
too surprised, but a bit disappointed, if first transit is part of an epilog to whatever the final book in that series is. (Possibly with Travis Long as one of the distinguished observers watching it leave)
