The advantage of using a destroyer rather than a courier boat is that a destroyer has stealth systems and some self-defence capability. A courier boat has neither.

Also no one ever seems to have enough dispatch boats. But while a fleet is waiting to pounce it doesn't have other immediate use for its destroyers.

Plus they can run recon drones and keep an eye on when to spring the trap (if your in a less improved system like Marsh that doesn't have massive sensor arrays and FTL system comms. (Plus of course the stealth and self defends you already mentioned)

Of course, you have the somewhat obvious issue that people are not going to be easily fooled in the future. Given the 60:1 compression on the Alpha side it seems perfectly possible to sweep for fleets within at least 15 light minutes on Alpha with a BC squadron and significantly further on the higher levels.

I am finally reading Changer of Worlds and I have come across a familiar concept. Kinesthesia.

Honor scored high on her kinesthesia tests.
Can anyone think of a situation where that would be useful on Earth?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Gymnastics? Martial arts? Even some sports like soccer, hockey, football where multiple things are happening around you at great speed and you'd need to keep track of where they are in relation to you?

Ah, I was right. Sports is the only arena I could come up with. Gymnastics for certain. And when going for a long bomb in football, knowing where the ball is in reference to you.

But the most important I can think of would be in ski jumping. Perhaps.

Surgery. Combat. Dance. Music. Anything where precision control of the body is required. In a wider sense of situational awareness, being able to keep track of how positions of other things relate to your position, Air/Ground traffic control. Driving. Some forms of design work.

Driving. How could I have missed that!? Yep, lame-brain half-brain strikes again. That probably should have been the most obvious.

Don't forget combat fighter pilot and ground combat. Also, anybody who is blind uses kinaesthesia to navigate around their house. You do the same thing when walking through your dark living room, and curve your path to avoid your couch.

Fighter pilot for certain! But I intentionally left it out because I consider it in the realm of Honor's. And not, grounded so to speak, that can be of consideration to us...groundlings?

Of course someone here in the forums could have their pilot's license.

My kinesthetic sense must be low dude, cause I can't navigate worth a crap in the dark. I'll end up in the hospital for sure. Wall lights stay on in my home!

Good calls. Much I didn't consider.

I know from what I read that Treecats don't necessarily understand how things work but obviously that can operate human designed equipment. Will they actually sign up with SEM's military and become officers and enlisted, and how about the Stilties? Also, does anyone remember if there is a proper name for the aliens from Basilisk? Calling them Stilties seems like calling people Peeps or Manties. I personally don't like being called a Yank or Yankee, not that I am ashamed of Northerners or of being from the States but I am from the South and personally prefer using Southerner, hillbilly, hick, bass ackward unedumicated redneck  'Murica!!!. So does anyone remember if there is an SEM official moniker for them?
