I have some advice I would like to offer Charis in the realm of counterintelligence. We know that the administrator of the Hairatha gunpowder mill approached the Church of God Awaiting offering intelligence on Charisian munitions. Supposedly, there are other persons holding the 45 tons of powder (less now) that was misappropriated from the mill, some of which was diverted to Chisholm and some to Corisande, who are in similar circumstances. My suggesting is that a number of people contact the Church of God awaiting, claiming to be Temple Loyalists, and offering to help. Any response by the Church of God Awaiting would give Charis insight into what operations the Church of God Awaiting was planning, and any fallout from failed counterintelligence would depreciate any legitimate offers.

The biggest problem IMO with your idea is trust.

Clyntahn and Rayno didn't trust that Charisian (who they didn't know) until he gave them a track record of good information.

While they would welcome a new source of information, the double-agent would have to first supply them with valid secret information.

How would Charis know when Clyntahn and Rayno would begin to trust the double-agent so any "fake" information would be acted on?

About the only thing that would work quickly is if Owl could fake messages from the now dead Charisian Temple Loyalist.

The problem there would be that the gap in time between reports would be suspicious to Clyntahn and Rayno.

They likely suspect (correctly) that he's dead so if they started getting new messages, they would be looking for evidence that the messages were from a Charisian double-agent.

The Inquisition has been playing spy-games for centuries so there have likely been times when a spy of the Inquisition has been known to have been turned or replaced by a double agent.
