Rachel, Theresa and Jeanette are all eighteen and twenty?
Holy Cupids Bow Batman! Fodder for the feelings, Cupists!

Well are ya gonna' pull them bows or whistle dixie?
Falling in love, is such a good living boy.

What exactly are the three of them doing? Any Navy plans?

Rachel's in her third (I think?) year at Saganami Island. Theresa was always the quieter sort, so I doubt she'll be going in, and I think we'd have heard if Jeanette was. So far I think Rachel's the only Mayhew girl with any military ambitions. (I recall hearing that Abigail Hearns is a particular hero of hers!)
Hopefully we'll check in with the Graysons in the next couple of books - we haven't really gotten to spend a great deal of time with them since Echoes of Honor. (Not that I'm complaining too much, since it meant lots more screentime for Haven, but I'd like to go visit them again for awhile!)

I want to see Rachel or Abigail in action so bad I get nervous jitters. I also worry like a parent. Quiteso. If something...untoward were to happen to Abigail in battle, or Rachel, I'm not sure I'd recover.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I'd sure like to see Mac and Mistress Thorn cook up something. I'm not talking culinarily.

One of my niece and I favorite movies is *Parent Trap, with Lyndsay Lohan. The scenes where the butler and the maid fell in love now puts me in mind of The Mac and The Mistress. Has a ring to it too. I'm thinking novella.

*Actually I adore all three versions of Parent Trap.

Protector Benjamin is a special case. There is no limit on how many armsmen he can have. For one of the regular Steadholders, there is also the Steadholder's Guard to call on, as opposed to the Steadholder's Own Guard. Personal armsmen are from the Steadholder's Own Guard (the one limited to 50 members), while the Steadholder's Guard is essentially the Steading police force. As far as I can tell, the difference is they teach one set to be bloodhounds and terriers and the other they teach to be rabid-at-need Rottweilers.

How dare you speak of such things!! Do you want me to go through another Lovat?? Because that's damn well what's going to happen if we lose Abby!!! One was - and still very much is, going by the evidence - quite bad enough, thank you!!

Speaking of the Mayhew daughters, though... wouldn't it just give the Conservatives fits if one of the Protector's girls married one of the "darned foreigners" polluting their precious shores? Like... oh... Warner Caslet??

There just seems to be so much going on in Benjamin's household. And you just know that a few of the armsmen sole responsibility is to keep up with all of the different aircar keys.

Anyone seen the damn car keys!?

What would give them apoplexy, is if Warner ended up with a harem consisting of one or more of their daughters as well as Abigail.

I wonder if Tom has been sneaking peeps of Eloise.
Peeping Tom. What, another novella?

Tom would never!! He's far too much of a gentleman for that!!

Eloise, on the other hand...

Can't you see her?? Sneaking a peek at her Secretary of War, and hearing Javier's spirit whispering in her ear, "Wish you'd thought of this when I could have got the benefit of it...."??
