No need for knowledge of the Federation here, just a good understanding of Safehold's own traditions and mythology (not sure mythology is really the right word here).

As for what she was born with, clearly she has a mind as sharp as a bag full of razors.

The more interesting question might be does she think Merlin is a Seijin, or possibly think him an archangel?

G'Day Hildum,

Do you have a quote for where the Seijin's rapid movement ability is stated?

I just can't remember where that rapid a movement was stated as a seijin's ability....

Agree.

Remember that in OAR, Cayleb didn't see Merlin's ability to travel back to Charis to warn Cayleb's father as "just another Seijin feat".

Cayleb knew that only Angels or Demons could travel that quickly.

Merlin used "alternate personas" partially because it would be impossible for even Seijins to travel that quickly.

When Merlin decided that he had to personally assist in the escape of Daivyn & Irys, he publicly left Charis weeks ahead of time so that his travel time would be humanly possible.

I don't know about anyone else but I find these snippets to be cruel and unusual punishment. We have a full year to wait for the next book, that is bad enough without getting hints about the next book.

Or you can look at them as thought provoking pieces to fuel our speculation on the next book. This speculation is what we do between books. If they torture you just don't read the spoilers, they are clearly marked, if you love being tantalized join use who enjoy them.

I might argue that if RunsFor posts here- he is interested enough in Merlin et al, to comtinue to write this book. I "think" he posts more in Safehold than in his other series. I, for one, hope his interest and the admittingly puzzling snips continue.

What RFC is doing is the same reason barbecue joints and doughnut shops let the scent waft out. It attracts business!!!

So far, RFC has produced 1210 posts.

I have produced a file containing an (admittedly incomplete) list of pointers to these posts.

The details of the last 260 RFC posts forms part of this web page.

Hope this helps throw some light on your opinion.

RFC did a "How The Safehold Series Won't End" post on the forum's where that happened so it "probably" won't happen for real. IF you look up RFC post you should find it.
