Surprisingly enough, I'm even shorter than she is. And yes, I checked. That said, turnabout is fair play, after all...

And I very much doubt she has tattoos of any sort. She wouldn't see the point. :P

Allen? A hippie? Please. Allen was a shy geek who blushed bright red if he so much as tried to talk to a girl. Obviously, he's gotten better... but is clearly still clueless with women.

As for Augustus.... I don't know if he has any tattoos, but I am very interested in finding out. Thoroughly.

You must realize, technology is advanced on Manticore. Tatts can be permanently applied and permanently removed, painlessly, just like our fast photo shops...there's an In-About-An-Hour-Tatts located right in Landing!

They just never bothered to tell you they had tatts. But I know, that you know, that all kids have their rebellious miscreant stage, or so I've...heard anyway.

I bet a softdrink that Elizabeth had or has a tatt of the family crest. Where that tatt may live I wouldn't venture to speculate. She has too many resources to hunt me down.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I have it on very good authority that Allen Higgins and Mercedes Brigham would create cold shower hotness. This has been personally verified by yours truly...and many cold showers.

My evil plan is working. Or rather, your imagination is.

I have it on better authority that Lester Tourville and Michelle Henke would be the diplomatic coup of the decade. Not to mention adorable.

Cupists are highly bred for non-evil tendencies. Love.

Help me with something here. First, what is Anton and Cathy's marital status? They're not married or engaged are they? Besides Thandi and Victor, what other single couples are there? Harkness is married. And how old is Berry?

I remember every one of my sisters' sweet 16 birthday parties, a veritable cornucopic bevy of beautiful bold bodacious babes, so of course I remember. I seem to recall some sort of coming out party for Grayson women, that was very formal as well.

Am I imagining it? and is there a matching sweet 16 for Manticorans? And what of Beowulf? Not sure I should even inquire of Beowulf.

Seems like the lofty socialite of Manticore would have a formal sweet 16 for certain.

I don't remember mention of gangly Honor even having a prom.

RFC said once (I can't remember where) that Anton and Cathy aren't married because "Eric [Flint] doesn't want them to be." Which appears to have closed off the issue for the foreseeable future.

Given that Helen basically considers Cathy her stepmom, however, I think we can safely conclude that Cathy and Anton are married in pretty much everything but name.

Thandi and Victor aren't married either, and I doubt they're headed that way - they never have been the traditional sort.

Eloise and *sob* Javier weren't married either (though I suspect they would have been, once she was done with her Presidency), and I've gotten the impression that she considered Javier her husband, in fact if not on paper, and that he was very much of the same mind.

[upon return from sobbing]

The point the Honorverse seems to be making is that what matters most is the commitment between partners, not whether or not they have a piece of paper saying so. We've see happily married couples (and plenty of them!), unhappily married couples (though not as many of those), and couples who aren't married but are perfectly happy and committed in spite of it.

And then there are those like Naomi Kaplan and Michelle Henke who are happy playing the field, those like Dame Estelle who don't seem to be interested in anyone (at least that we've heard about), and those like Mark Sarnow, who is happily married but whose romantic life is never discussed "onscreen".

I think the overarching point of all this, however, is that what matters most is what works for the two people involved. It is what it is, and the rest will come out in the wash. :D

I would not at all be surprised if Grayson had a debutante ball or something similar for its aristocratic girls. That seems like a tradition that would have hung on in that particular society.

I didn't have a "Sweet Sixteen" as such because I was with my family in Colorado (at least I think we were in Colorado that summer), but given my personality, I never liked big parties anyway, so that suited me just fine. If anyone I knew did have one, it was one I would hear about through the grapevine and quietly thank God I didn't have to go to.

A Grayson debutante ball has to be the most beautiful of its kind anywhere. Of course, probably 1000 armsmen are there as well!

I remember my sisters running themselves silly for several weeks, months, prior, until when the actual day came. They were exhausted.

From a guys perspective, you only missed one big headache rose.

The legal limit on the number of Armsmen you can have is much lower than 1000.

I think he meant that with all the various armsmen for all the various debutantes, the total number in the ballroom would be a thousand. :D
