'Cause you just earned it...
Terekhov was overheard telling Khumalo that White Haven told Emily that Alice told Mercedes that Harkness told Tremaine that Theisman told Allen that Shannon told Pritchart that Gustav told Benjamin who told all of his wives that Alison told Alfred that Elizabeth told Justin that Sonja told Honor and Nimitz signed it to me "that Dame Estelle said the union of her and rose would result in a hybred sweet sticky honey suckle rose. That's what I heard. Don't tell anyone ok? 'Cause Nimitz swore me to secrecy. And I really don't want to see Nimitz angry!

pssst...
It's official, roseandheather. It all got back to Lady Cathy Montaigne, who of course told Anton while under covers behind closed doors. She was so animated with the tasty morsel that it prompted Anton to swear he'd go under cover to validate its authenticity. Apparently, and I'm quoting a very reliable source, Anton was peeved at the discovery of the limits to the veracity of Lady Montaigne's legendary ability to multitask. He was ready to, how shall I say, roast the broomstick, yet she was flailing around so animatedly about to choke on said morsel. I also heard that she was wearing virgin silk imported from some remote Star System that wasn't helping. Well, after retracing the path of that rumour across the three Star Systems that are the Endicott System, The Andermani Empire, and the Manticore Binary System that only Anton can do, the rumour was indeed confirmed as...true.

Did you say something, cthia? I couldn't hear you, I was busy being ravished by a petite diplomatic genius.

And let me tell you, whatever she was doing, she better do it again...

Well if she is such a petite diplomat, then I wonder who is really ravaging whom?

Do you think they have yearbooks? I wonder how some of your darlings appeared in their adolescent prom pics.

Think you'd still go for Khumalo or Allen in their Manticore hippie days, pimply faces, with the smokey smell of illegal Stilthy substance, saying things like 'gnarly man?'

Tattoos are probably quick and painless now. Easily removed and veritable works of art. Dame Estelle probably had a tattoo of a Kodiac Max eating a hexapuma.

Let the tattoo fit the personality!

No telling what tattoo Honor had!

Surprisingly enough, I'm even shorter than she is. And yes, I checked. That said, turnabout is fair play, after all...

And I very much doubt she has tattoos of any sort. She wouldn't see the point. :P

Allen? A hippie? Please. Allen was a shy geek who blushed bright red if he so much as tried to talk to a girl. Obviously, he's gotten better... but is clearly still clueless with women.

As for Augustus.... I don't know if he has any tattoos, but I am very interested in finding out. Thoroughly.

And another thing. I beg to differ which one of you is the genius. It was you who managed to wiggle your way into such an envious position. I've been trying to get a date with her for years yet caught no joy.

Say what you may. I know who the genius is.
Say what? Am I jealous and just a bit sour about it?

Damn straight!

You must realize, technology is advanced on Manticore. Tatts can be permanently applied and permanently removed, painlessly, just like our fast photo shops...there's an In-About-An-Hour-Tatts located right in Landing!

They just never bothered to tell you they had tatts. But I know, that you know, that all kids have their rebellious miscreant stage, or so I've...heard anyway.

I know! That's why I suggested he have a trial run with one of the other Leslie's.

I do. I overheard from my reliable source that he has. It's hidden from view. I ain't tellin' what or where. Nimitz hasn't forgiven me since that last incident where you leaked it to KNick. Honor placed trade sanctions on his celery. You can't imagine how close I came to P-38 vengeance.

She didn't leak it. You did. And if you told Nimitz she did, shame on you. You're just lucky he didn't call you on that lie. Of course, he knows I never promise not to pass on good gossip.

Isn't that the truth KNick! I leaked it. Way to go for calling me on it too. That's the problem with gossip, no one ever wants to admit culpability!

You're right about Nimitz knowing I was lying. Though not sure if he was using his empathic sense or his keen sense of smell. If it's true that treecats can smell fear, then I reeked. In fact, when Honor later popped her head in and said "Hi Stinker," I spoke too.

Aside:
Has anyone experienced the Honorverse blending with your personal life? My dog's name is Nina. I've been slipping Nimitz, in place of it, lately, ever since the Nimitz thread. Nina just stares at the idiot.

I'm worried. My fiancee's name is Gemma. I might let slip, in a moment of passion, "Oh Gena." (Gena Smith--senior member of Protector's Palace childcare, or RFC's personal assistant Gena Robinson)

If it happens, I may be able to eventually talk myself out of it. But my reflexive thought on the matter is that it'd sound too...convenient. Would you believe it if in the throes of passion your mate called you Allen, and told you he was a character in a novel?

Fortunately for me, my love affairs are restricted entirely to my imagination (and, of course, my heart). I don't think I'm in danger of slipping up and calling The Boyfriend (who is named neither "Gus" nor "Allen") by either of those! (Probably because I have the outlet of writing naughty stories about them, even if only in my mind. And also because, however desperately I love them, they are not unique in my, er, feelings for them - I've been falling in love with fictional characters for as long as I can remember, though I freely admit that my feelings for Gus and Allen run stronger than most. On the subject of Eloise and Dame Estelle, I decline to answer. )

That said, I must confess that on the nights when it's hardest for me to fall asleep, I do like to curl up and imagine that my head is cradled safely in Eloise's lap....
