Personally I think he is going to be assigned to a look out post in Macpherson Lament or may be the Barren Lands or Claw Island or assigned as an embassy guard in the Raven Lands.
Maybe, just maybe he becomes the most loyal guard to live and dies protecting them because he realized he was wrong about Nimue

Decided to de-Lurk in response to this thread, though I have been anony-reading for quite some time.

I think Aivah has some communication  tech from the Alexandria Enclave that not even Langhorne et al knew about--tech that was specifically developed to be undetectable to known sensor suites-human and Gbaba. It would not have been all that hard, in the available 57 years, for the Enclave to develop something new and undetectable by their opponents. Further, we know the Enclave was clearly plotting against Langhorne et al during that time, so it doesn't take a genius to conceive other arrows in the Shan-wei quiver.

Seriously speculative, I know, but consider:

Pei Kau-Yung says in OAR "we came so close to kicking these people's [the gbaba's] asses. Another fifty years-seventy five at the outside-and we could have taken them, star-spanning empire' or no". Nook version of OAR at page 55. This was right after the Breakaway maneuver when 46 starships dropped out of stealth after, at least apparently, not being detected by a pair of gbaba Scout Ships.

The text also indicates, via Kau-Yung's internal dialogue, that the 46 that dropped out of stealth "were almost perfect matches for those of the ships which had disappeared".

The Federation also had captured sensor suites of the Gbaba ships--both old and new (p. 63). In fact, consider these thought of Kau-yung "Hamilcaar had been with that hidden fleet, the flagship of Operation Ark's civilian administration . . .. The enormous transport, half again the size of the Federation's largest dreadnought, was at minimal power levels, with every one of multiply redundant stealth systems operating at all times. A Gbaba scout ship could have been in orbit with her without detecting her unless it closed to within two or three hundred kilometers." (p.103)

The folks in the Alexandria Enclave were called "techies" by Langhorne and friends and were in open opposition to Langhorne and Bedard. At the end, Shan-wei was openly defiant to Langhorne in a Council meeting . (p. 99)

Also, Shan-wei and Kau-Yung plotted for 57 years in an effort to thwart Langhorne(compare p. 96 For fifty-seven years the two of them had lived apart" with p. 113 "which was why Kau-yung and Shan-Wei had had their very public falling out.")

Take the above and add what appears to be a relative lack of technical sophistication in Langhorne's camp (I can't put my finger a specific quote, but it's in the penumbra of OAR's beginning).

Really long for a first post, but it's been percolating for a looooong time.

First welcome to the forums Image. Hmm very interesting the repeat of fifty seven years over and over in OAR. One wonders what other Easter Eggs might come out of the Safeholdian woodwork? Well we are awaiting the next book, Hell's Foundations Quiver (HFQ). AGAIN!

Remember, based on text he is a Temple Loyalist. Keeping him in service but as far as possible from Irys and Daivyn might be the best way to neutralize him.
Remember SPOILERS

I also wonder what the good guys are DOING with all of those POWs. They have to be approaching 100,000 prisoners. Are they “reeducating” them? Will we see a Harchong/Dolharan/Desnairian formation join the ICA, like the St. Patrick’s battalion in the Mexican-American War?

I've been worried about all the POWs, too. After the defeat of the Desnairian and Dohlaran armies, there are thousands of enemy soldiers to feed, guard, house, etc. It's the cost of taking care of another army without any of the benefits. Those soldiers were already starving, so captured food and supplies would be minimal, and we already know that the countryside has been stripped of food. Siddarmark is just now barely able to feed itself. How on earth is Charis and Siddarmark going to feed them? Talk about a white elephant! The Go4 has solved their prisoner problem by putting civilians in concentration camps and working/starving them to death, and simply murdering captured soldiers, but our boys in the white hats can't do that.

And we never heard (that I recall, anyway) what became of all the POWs from the destroyed Navy of God. Will Charis do what Caleb did at Armageddon Reef and find an island, give the POWs some tools and equip them for survival, then sail away?

Just wondering here.

Regarding the whole "Church has no seijins" issues, a thought occurred to me.
Powered armour.
According to the Testimonies, Seijin were normal humans gifted with boosted strength, speed and toughness, using weapons that didn't break. All things from the angels.
Federation slimline powered armour.
Reads the nerves in the body and reacts slightly faster than the muscles, hence the speed and strength.
It's armour, so toughness (possibly incorporating minor shielding technologies for use against projectiles).
Weapons could be made of Battle Steel or even "lightswords".
Visors could send their imagery back to a control room, allowing for instant two-way communication.

What if Clyntahn discovers a vault of such things lying forgotten in the basement of the Temple?
If he did, he'd stuff his most loyal adherents into them and send them to the front lines to act as his heavy weapons. Merlin may need to use a new Seijin to take them down in a series of single combats...
