The Corisandian Royal Guard would have no option but to drum out Lt. Sheltyn. But his bitterness makes him a natural target for the Rakurai operative, and his hospital stay makes him vulnerable to someone who has proven that she can play the part of a nurse. While he will have lost his own palace access, he has insider knowledge of palace security protocols.

Irys, Nimue, Caleb, and Merlin are not idiots. They are aware of this potential and will probably use it to trap the operative. I'm guessing that they will plant a SNARC on Sheltyn that checks facial recognition against the face of the nurse recorded at the bombing. They will program the SNARC to hop onto the nurse, follow her, and arrest her once they can find enough evidence for a trial. May use her to try to infiltrate Zion, but this would be pretty complicated given her mission directive to stay in Corisande and create mayhem.

Aivah is 'way smart'! She has survived as a spy and or spymaster for decades. Her brain holds the codewords she uses, not any codebook. Remember her words when executing the escape from Zion "Go get some blue steel silk thread." This was passed on, not knowing the meaning, and the blue steel silk dress was in the window. This was seen by Lyzbet Wyllsyn. Her brain knew this was the signal for departure. No codebook. This is why Merlin and the Inquisition can't find her or her organization. Who knows the codewords in 'ordinary messages'? Messages were sent by radio to the Resistance in many forms to direct but not reveal. This is the same with her messages. It could be as simple as 'Find me three cases of Chateau Yquem 1917." It is a business request but a message for a specific person.

Maikel has noted a 'family resemblance' Merlin and Nimue. There is probably a resemblance in Merlin's first personas. Easier to transform back and forth. Even if there aren't, there are mannerisms and phrases you don't stop using without constant active thought. You slip up. Once Aivah knew he had specific knowledge of her, she would pay more attention to details about him. Aivah is suspicious of everyone and probably has few true friends she confides in.

Also when one person leaves, I believe it was Adorai, they train their successor.

Another point, I believe that Major Phandys may be her contact to the workings of the Go4. I think that's why he brought the message to the attention of the guard Captain. Aivah knew she needed the Wyllsyn's killed while resisting and not put to the question. I think 'Harold(sp)' Wyllsyn came to realize that during the combat causing him to smile at his death.

IMHO Aivah did not arrange that situation. The last breakfast of the Wylsynn's was a very calculated affair with the exact ending as planned. Previous knowledge of the impending 'Question' and the need to keep the secrets beyond the the circle known by the Inquisition was paramount. One Wylsynn brother was noble and the other pragmatic. To kill a brother to keep a secret is a rather grand secret and of course to escape the inquisition's Question.

This gives us the concept that Aivah is only part of the secret. Obviously the Circle issomething greater than Aivah.

My guess is that the nurse was killed by the bomb she set off.

runsforcelery, also known as MWW (Mad Wizard Weber) or to put it bluntly David Weber, our favorite author. runsforcelery is the login he uses for this forum. Anything posted by him can be taken as canon, because it is his story.

He also likes to post the occasional spoiler, teaser, snippet and bit of idle speculation. Every once in a while we get a post that involves a bit of history (as in lots of history). Occasionally he gets involved in the discussion of non-related topics because he enjoys interacting with his readers.

Or she could be another group like the inner circle who was started by the journal of Saint Zherneau. Or more likely she is just smart enough to put 2 and 2 together and get the truth.
