Detweiler didn't want a child by normal means. He wanted exact copies of himself.
He could have made near-clones, by replacing his Y with one of his wife's Xs.

One wonders what his wife thought when he told her she'd not be able to have any biological children. What's in her genome, chopped liver?

Exactly my point!
It seems there may be a real chink in the Detweiler armor.

If indeed he effectively told his wife that her gene pool does not need to
reproduce ( :lol: not funny but yea it is) then there's a distinct possibility that she hates him.

What bigger blow to a woman's ego than to have her husband rather clone kids than to have any by her.

He felt she was genetically dirty.
What woman wants to be thought of as dirty by her husband.

Perhaps that chink can be exploited somehow. A certain Cachat and/or Zilwicki, maybe?

Query.

Consider Manpower's F-line genetic slaves whom were bred for manual labor with characteristics of physically strong and muscular, such as Donald X whom joined the Ballroom, how did they compare physically with say, Gryphons, like the immovable granite fixture of Anton Zilwicki?

I try to imagine how they're going to appear in the movie.

Wait, so what happens if you try to assign a 'cat to someone, and none of the 'cats want them? (Tullingham is an important member of the Republic's government, for example...)

You find out if the cats are serious about doing the jobs they agreed to do, or if you can't trust them.

Given that Honor seems to consider it a victory when Nimitz doesn't immediately eviscerate undesirables, I'm not quite sure that's the way I'd look at it.

How would a 'cat feel about promising to die for a two-leg with a "dirty" mind-glow? Heck, how would it feel about just being stuck with one all day every day?

(Of course, getting stuck with a 'cat all day every day could well make the likes of Tullingham changes his ways...)

Considering how 'cats view dishonesty, this could be an actual problem in some cases. Especially since things tend to be a little b&w in the Honorverse (for example, the only personal enemy of Honor's that I can think of who wasn't a completely terrible person was Parks... so of course he's the screw-up in that book.) So you'd tend to get 'cats refusing to guard only, say, Eloise's political enemies. Which would look bad, however you sliced it.

Can 'cats grasp the idea of an undercover mission?

(Actually, as I type this, I realize that that's essentially what they've been doing for 500 odd years. For a species that doesn't understand dishonesty, they certainly are capable of practicing it. )

The 'cats have never lied about how smart they really are. They have just..........neglected to mention certain facts. After all, no one ever asked them if they were even smarter than humans gave them credit for, at least until they proved they could answer the question.

I too would really like to know about Beowulf's Gremlins.Never,never,ever feed a Gremlin after midnight. Perhaps Honor's mother knows about them. She is from Beowulf.
