Some Aivah thoughts...
She ISthe intelligence chief now and as such she sees EVERYTHING. (I think McGuinness pointed this out)With this kind of access it's not to hard to see a VERY sharp lady put 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 together to get 4. RFC has told us she is born with that which makes her so good. I would suggest she has a photographic memory (eidetic?) which would enable her to use a very common book (the Writ?) as her coding mechanism. |

Hey, this could open very interesting story arc. I remember one thread before LAMA's release when there was one thing about Armageddon Reef discussed: Remember in OAR battle of Armageddon Reef, when CN kicked 2D's (Deisnar & Dolhar) asses, so to say? There was a Charisian ship that got missing in the storm. Users on thread speculated it may be Chekov's Gun hinting something suspicious going on at the Reef. Sending our Lieutenant Punched-By-A-"Girl" there might finally resolve this and show us something we would never expect. Let's think big, it might be a freakin' hidden spaceship... * Nah, that's unlikely. But I still think Armageddon Reef will return somehow, and this may be the right occasion. -----------

I strongly suspect the bit about Aivah being "born with the primary capability" is a sucker punch by RFC to get us all speculating on exactly what is. Each term is loaded. You are "born with" hands, but a baby born into a wealthy family is "born rich" as well. "Primary capability" could mean almost anything, including the brains folks have already mentioned.
Since she obviously has good spy trade-craft, her needing to get to Zion could have to do with dead drops only she knows about or some other means of communication/activation only she knows the details of. Or for extracting her cells as I'm sure nobody else knows all of them. It's also possible she's running a bluff to see if Merlin takes the bait and admits what she may only suspect. |

I agree. We know that there are dynasties within the Church (like the Wylsyns), and that Aivah's family was one of those. Perhaps her father passed on the family tradition to her, with it access to some of the high tech items in the Temple. I mean, from her request to Merlin, she clearly knows about Federation technology (to the point that she knows that it is possible to go to the Temple and back in less than a day, implying knowledge of how fast you can travel with Federation tech) - so where did she get this from, if not from her father??? EDIT: One more thing, she was wearing a necklace containing poison before she knew Merlin - indicating that then she had secrets to take to the grave. That would imply a much deeper game then the more recent war between Charis and the Church. .

Considering that her known actions would likely earn her the Punishment, I'd say that wearing a poison necklace is quite reasonable.

I agree that it's reasonable for a person to wear a poison necklace in her circumstances.
However, if she's a PICA, then she'd hardly need it then, would she.....

She actually would. If she took a known poison, the inquisitors would simply check her vitals then discard her body. Easy escape for a PICA.

Except that any close examination of her body by a semi-competent trained Pasqualate-caliber healer would also demonstrate that whatever she might have looked like, she'd never been human to begin with. "Oh, bother!" said Pooh, as Piglet came back from the dead. |

One would hope that the tactical situation would have become easier to escape without showing off to many seijin abilities by the time the healer moves in. Then again, I don't t believe Aivah is a PICA. But if she were a PICA, she would play her role down to her toenails poison and all. |
