Good one, I almost forgot about them. Unfortunately they are REALLY far apart at the moment so no kissing for the foreseeable future, I'm afraid.

Well, Honor implies that her mom would have been game either to sleep with Paul, or to have the three- or four-way. It's left ambiguous, but I can't imagine any other offer that would have "shocked even Paul". |

If I'm not mistaken Honor's mom virtually made the statement herself that she'd sleep with Honor's harem. Problem with me is, that I could never personally decide if she was just joking or not. Even though upon Honor telling her father about it, he simply stated that Allison has wandering eyes but that she'd never touch. After he promised to spank her. Also, I think everyone is missing a subtle characteristic of Beowulfan society that Allison alluded to often. IMHO, it isn't so much the extended marriages as much as it is the behaviour bred from very lax sexual mores, lacking in a prudish society like our own. Wife swapping, multiple partners, open relationships, open marriages, and nude parties, IMHO, are just a few of the normal activities of Beowulfan society. It would also trickle down to, aghast, very lax mores of Beowulfan youth--which a prudish gentleman such as I will hardly dare speculate upon. Point being, non-monogamous marriages should not be the metre-stick of a Beowulfan rather their innate unbridled attitude towards sexuality. The truth of the matter ultimately being, that someone from a non-Beowulfan society cannot fathom the truth or assimilate it! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

To return to Allen Higgins for a moment, I've often wondered, given the Plot twists that Ill-fortune has bestowed upon him, that he would be a perfect mate for a Havenite Admiral that has also shown competence but seemed fated to always run into Honor at the worst times...
Genevieve Chin/Allen Higgins? And I've always thought Tom Thiesman/Mercedes Brigham would make a nice couple.... Last edited by Hutch on Tue Feb 25, 2014 11:15 am, edited 1 time in total.

That's a good one! We haven't heard from Chin since the First Battle of Manticore. I thought she would be one of the Havenite task force commanders... *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

She might be with Capital Fleet. Assuming, of course, that she survived First Manticore, which she may not have... It's an interesting possibility, though I don't really know Chin well enough to get enthusiastic about it yet. I JUST WANT ALLEN TO BE LOVED!! IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?? ...*cough* ~*~

I believe in MoH Tom Theisman mentions that Chin did survive and returned to Haven. He mentions something about the President not looking so pale and shaken since word of Chin's battered survivors crawled home after the Battle of Manticore (I paraphrased a bit). Chin might have a little too much Manticore hatred/resentment to overcome but wouldn't that make the resulting romance all the stronger? If Higgins can use their shared "why is the universe out to get me?" histories to find some common ground and cement the first Manticoran-Havenite pairing in the series it would be pretty nice. *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Genevieve Chin has never struck me as a stupid woman. She'd have to not be human to forget all that she and her star nation have lost to Manticore over the years, but I think once she knows who's really responsible, she's going to go down the same path as Molly DeLaney; her only concern is going to be blowing the Mesan Alignment into subatomic particles as quickly as humanly possible. After, of course, she makes them endure humiliation and pain. Not necessarily in that order. Manticore, for all that it was her enemy, has always been an honorable enemy, and one she could respect. The Mesan Alignment is most definitely neither. And I think a particular Admiral of the Fleet who held that post during a little something called the Yawata Strike might be able to sympathize with that position. Don't you? ~*~

On another note. I guess there's no more talk of Shannon/Scotty?
How about Diamato/Truman? I have no idea what their respective ages are though... *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Interestingly, I ship Truman/Scotty! As for Shannon - in my heart, she will always be Sonja's. ~*~
