You write romance novels as a hobby?
Does that mean you won't share them? With lille 'ole...us? :D

I love romance novels. Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series is extremely intoxicating!

It be gittin' hot up in der!

Yes, I do, and no, I won't. Not yet, anyway. :D

Surprisingly, they're not science fiction whatsoever - most of them are centered around veterinary medicine and take place in Canada's Northwest Territory. Though I am working on one about a bush pilot and a Presidential candidate... whose name may or may not be Eloise.

(No, she's actually not an expy of Eloise Pritchart - I'm not that gauche. All they share is their name, a passion for serving their country, and an iron sense of integrity. But her name is certainly a sly nod to Haven's President!)

This isn't to say, though, that I'll never write science fiction romance... :P

There are many things I've seen over my few years in this universe...

But a shipping thread in the Honorverse forums? Never thought I'd see the day.

*Hoards Lester Tourville, Thomas Theisman and Ansten FitzGerald all for herself*

Can't really say who'd I'd ship together That hasn't already been said. Though I must say I was shipping Honor/Hamish WAY before their love for each other became apparent to me while I was reading. :p

Watching Soap operas have a way of tuning the mind to these things. I know, my college roommates forced me to participate.

Now I don't know if you watched soaps but my college roommates were all female and they watched with such fervency, adamance, vigor and frightening passion!

I'd walk in from class into scathing tirades...

"Oh no she didn't!"

"That b###!"

"WTF?!"

And on and on and on. Being a guy, I never understood how they could become so upset. 'Til it drew me in!

Now I'm an expert on scandalous relationships!

What, you don't think so?

Well get a load of where I thought Honor would end up initially...

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I don't get the soap opera thing either. Could never watch them too much drama, not enough spaceships to balance it out. HHverse provides perfect among of action. Plus, it has treecats.

No Thomas does not go with Eloise. Nu. NoNOnoNOnoNonO.

Eloise is to have a child which is hers and Javier the second the tension died down because he would obviously write such a thing in his will. BECAUSE I SHIPPED THEM SO HARD IT HURT.

If I really have to ship someone with Thomas it would be... God I don't know. I crackship him with Honor, and honestly the two would be an amazing pair, but odds are Hamish would have to be killed off to accommodate him being a part of Honor's life.

As for the one crack ship I do very much support and would find it hilarious if it was true? Yu/Caslet. *runs off*

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Oh, come on! It's the classic "heartbroken heroine with lost love finds second love forged in friendship and shared purpose" narrative! Besides, an Eloise/Tom romance in no way rules out her having a child with Javier! If Honor can find second love after losing her first true love, so can Eloise - and goddammit, the woman deserves it!

Besides, you know Javier wouldn't want her to mourn him for the rest of her life - he knows she'll always love him, that's never been a question, and who else in the Honorverse would want her to be happy more than Javier?? Though if Theisman's a no-go I'm happy to step in... *cough*

Honestly, though, I really am torn. Because on the one hand, I am a sucker for friendship-turned-love stories, and the idea that one day Eloise will come out of the worst of her grief and see the other man who's always been there hits so many of my buttons it's absolutely unreal.

But on the other hand, what she and Javier shared was so pure and so precious that I don't know if it can be followed - and there's something incredibly compelling in the narrative of a woman who survived losing the love of her life and held his memory in her heart while she finished the work they had both begun.

...basically all I want in the entire galaxy is for Eloise Pritchart to be happy. *cuddles*

I still stand behind my ultimate Honorverse OTP, though - Estelle Matsuko and Augustus Khumalo. *nodnod* Calling it now. They're perfect for each other.

Alright I'll admit having Eloise paired up with someone again would be nice. Though I never really thought Tom would be the one to comfort her any more then in the manner of a friend. (Since he doesn't want to be disrespectful to Javier.) In any relationship between the two, I think Eloise would have to make the first move.

Something else I would love to see Mark Sarnow's partner. He's married, and I read somewhere that Word of God said he was gay. I love that, it fit him perfectly and I would love to meet him, even if its just an offhand mention of meeting him at a diplomatic party.

I think Tom Theisman would be the last person in the galaxy to think that Eloise Pritchart could ever fall in love with him, because he knows what she had (and still has) with Javier. Javier was obviously her grand passion, and he always will be. But I could see a quiet, intensely devoted, low-key love developing between them - though I think it would sneak up on them both, and probably Tom moreso. I think he'd know that she was a gift, that part of her heart would always belong to Javier, and I think he'd be okay with that, because I think all he'd want to do is be there for her in any way he could.

...I may have thought about this a bit too much...

Yes. This, we need. Because you know anyone married to Mark Sarnow would have to be badass. I'd love to meet Mark Sarnow's husband. ALL ABOARD THE PLEASE TRAIN TO YESVILLE. :D

So Tom/Eloise would almost be a reflection of Honor/Hamish on the Havenite side? Just without the empathic senses and with furry bodyguards? ..... I think it would work. I agree. This ship leaves tomorrow all hands on deck! :D

I loved Sarnow. Word of God also said he does needlepoint and weaves as a hobby so he's about as manly as men can get. Seriously, fights spaceships, gets both legs blown off and he does needlepoint? I wanna know who married him. Because he's the luckiest man ever.

On an unrelated note. I want a Sarnow needlepoint.

Well, yes and no. The whole "finding second love" aspect would be the same, but I always got the impression that while Honor loved Paul deeply and could have spent her life with him, Hamish (and Emily) is really her soul mate, and in Tom/Eloise's case it would be the other way around - Javier was her soul mate, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't truly love Tom if they found each other like that. In fact, I think she'd hold him all the closer to her heart because she's loved and lost once already. Even if Javier was the great love of her life - and I believe he was - I don't think she could bear to lose someone else she loved.

But honestly, the more I think about this pairing, the more I like it. It would have to be handled well, though - Javier/Eloise will always be, to me, the love story of the Honorverse, and any romantic partner Eloise had afterward would have to not only accept but embrace the fact that she will always be in love with Javier, no matter who else she loves afterward.

And honestly, if there's one man Javier would want to be there for Eloise when he no longer could, I think it would be Thomas Theisman.

Everyone wants a Sarnow needlepoint. I want a Sarnow needlepoint!

You know who else I want more of? Sinead Terekhov. She and Aivars made me melt like butter in a frying pan in The Shadow of Saganami and they are just precious.
