Android Readers for DW material? Opinions and Help please!

Some time has passed since I placed the first message on this topic. I would like to know TODAY's ANSWER to a few related questions:


(#1) Which of DW's books (or series of books) are available on Kindle and not on Nook, or vise versa?

Assuming:
* His books are all available on both (or at least the latest Safehold book),
* One has an Android device (phone, phablet, tablet) and
* One is NOT interested in purchasing the actual Kindle or Nook hardware,
* One DOES have some of the Baen free library books, some "Project Guttenberg" books, and a few others as well, (i.e.: This is the Downloading or "sideloading" issue.)
* BUT has _NOT_ yet actually begun to purchase eBooks as of yet,
then...

(#2) What Android App is the "better" one to use, Kindle or Nook? (Decide for yourself what "better" means.)

I would PREFER to avoid purchasing eBooks from both providers, only to find out that a book I purchased from one source can not be read by the other's Android application, or a generic eBook reader application.

I use Calibre on my PC or laptop to convert them to whatever format my gadgets can use. My HP tablet running Palm works well on Word documents, while my Kobo prefers epub.
Personally I'd avoid Kindle for the same reason I avoid Apple, too restrictive. Bit like buying a Toyota car that will only run on Toyota petrol. Wouldn't put up with that in a car & won't put up with it in an electronic device.

It think I was unclear.
Let me try again...

I read both "Dead Tree" versions of books as well as various non-DRM eBooks, such as those in the Baen free library as well as the Gutenberg collection.

As such, I already DO use a variety of Android Book readers, Moon+ (paid version) and Aldiko being only two of them. However...



I am interested in purchasing DW's most recent Safehold book (LAMA) in some sort of an eBook format.

I'd _FIRST_ like to know in what formats "LAMA" is available. I'm ASSUMING that it is NOT available in ePUB, or some other sort of non-DRM format, but is instead only available as a Kindle or Nook proprietary format.
(Please do correct me if I am wrong about this.)

In the event that it is available in both Kindle and Nook, I'd THEN like to decide which one to use as my primary source for a future collection of paid eBooks BEFORE I make such a purchase. i.e.: I do NOT want to create two separate incompatible collections of paid eBooks.

Any further comments?

However, NEITHER page says in what formats they sell it in. A non-DRM format, such as ePUB, etc. would be great, but I'm assuming that is not the format (or formats plural???) that they distribute.

I think LAMA is DRM free, as are the rest of his books.

I'm pretty sure there's a post from RFC about his books and DRM somewhere in the forums (Safehold section, maybe?).

So, to clarify:
If I buy it from EITHER Kindle OR from Nook, then...

* I should be able to read it on ANY eBook reader?

* Do you know what file format it's sold in?

MyAcer A210 came / comes with the Kindle app. Although I haven't used it yet. I also have a PDF reader and HTML everything except flash.

Hi,

I use Coolreader for reading my ebooks on an Android tablet.

It is a free programme and handles quite a wide range of formats.

As other have said, use Calibre (also free) on a pc to convert to either epub or prc if your files are not already in one of those formats.

I always download 'em in HTML format and read in Firefox or Chrome. One or t'other is available for almost everything.
