Most loved characters!

I'm mildly surprised we haven't caught R&H rickrolling the forums using the first words/letters in each line of a post about Javier & Eloise or Dame Estelle yet.

Well, obviously, it's because I haven't come up with anything worthy of their brilliance yet.

3. It was perfectly legal and in this sense did not interfere with Honor's morals, scruples and values.

What's a hero with no weakness? A terrible bore.

I loved the affair between Honor and Hamish from the start. To be a believable character she needs to have emotions and needs - and yes, weaknesses.
It's not only people's strenghts - it's also - or especially - their faults which make them lovable. And make them human!

The only flaw that I can associate with Honor is her very long fuse. People often incorrectly compare a person with a short fuse to be quick tempered and dangerous. Short fuse, quick tempered, yes. Dangerous, no.

A person, like Honor that is slow to anger, a very long fuse...those are the dangerous ones.

A firecracker has a short fuse. A cherry bomb has a short fuse. Because the danger of either are limited, no more than a possibility to injure one's family jewels. TNT has a long fuse, its very dangerous, you can lose your family jewels...and your family.

Short fuse people only snap at you. Snap snap snap. You've met them, they are the road ragers. They'll blast a series of four-letters at you for lack of a turn signal.

People like Honor, when their fuse burns down, they don't simply snap. They snap, crackle, sizzle, and pop! These are the people that walk into crowded theaters and schools and shoot everything in sight. They turn the error of failing to signal in traffic into a death sentence. Driving privileges permanently revoked. They wipe out entire task forces and fleets with a single broadside!

Yet Honor, having an outlet for her anger, uses this outlet well. The navy is perfect for her. Her anger serves to distill her focus and purpose, so then it becomes her strength, an asset, and not a weakness.


The only weakness she has is the inability to put herself first. That is borne out of total love and compassion for people. Ironic it is that those admirable traits can become a weakness. Ironic, but true.

There has only been once where Honor's temper threatened to destroy her. Blackbyrd.

Some may also add the incident with Houseman. Nope. There's not a single person with a functioning brain whom doesn't think Honor shouldn't have pounded Houseman a wee bit more. Elizabeth withstanding!

What's my point to this mini-treatise?!

1. Honor only has one flaw.
2. Honor only has one weakness.
3. If you are in traffic and someone cuts you off. Then hold your road rage. They may have a much loooonger fuse that circumstances has burned even shorter than your own.

In other words don't bring a four-letter temper tantrum to a possible gun fight!

Life permanently revoked!

4. She is a character that I love. Simply adore! Little wonder too as I am part of her nearest-and-dearest inner circle. It wasn't always that way. She had to whip us into shape all through that round trip to Basilisk Station.

Serving with Honor is honor itself!
