Like, between that and Javier, I took about a year-long break from the books, and if MoH's cover copy hadn't explicitly mentioned Honor as being sent to Haven in person to secure peace, I might not have picked them back up. I just couldn't believe Honor Harrington would stoop to falling for a married guy.

Let's just say that David made the right choice when he decided to not be a romance writer.

In his defense, Honor's relationship with Paul was genuine sweet and butterfly-in-tummy inducing.

But yeah, things that go boom is definitely his strong suit. :D

To be fair, Honor was always going to fall for a married man. You can't have a story about a Horatio Nelson facsimile without a notorious affair. The way Honor and Hamish (and Emily)'s relationship has gone is basically a rendition of Nelson's love-life, except with fewer obvious moral failings on Honor's part.

I couldn't believe that Honor had fallen for a married man either. But then I considered that oftentimes we do not choose with whom we fall in love, sometimes it just happens.

One scenario in which it happens is when one is the object of another's intense emotions. In my own experiences it is often difficult not to become enamored with someone with whom total immersion of the soul is seen in their eyes.

When you see in someone's eyes the level of their feelings, that lost puppy dog look, and then you see that they see that you see...well...then you both see. See?

How many times have we all thought to ourselves "If he/she could only get inside of my heart for a moment, could see into my soul, could feel what I feel for them, they would fall in love with me.

Consider that Honor could feel what Hamish felt. I am sure it rocked her.
Also, marrying a married man wasn't anything that Honor thought was wrong.

1. it wasn't her idea...never even entered her mind.
2. It, or rather she was proposed to by Emily.
3. It was perfectly legal and in this sense did not interfere with Honor's morals, scruples and values.

You know who needs more love?

Judah Yanakov.

That man needs so much more love.

...no, I'm not volunteering!

...fine. Dammit. I am absolutely volunteering.

Susan Hibson and Sally McBride.

My heart to them both.

Every card board cutout no name Marine character

"That looks like your snotty, Senior Chief." The Marine sentry's low-pitched voice exuded an oddly gleeful sympathy. It was the sort of voice in which a Marine traditionally informed one of the Navy's "vacuum-suckers" that his trousers had just caught fire or something equally exhilarating, and Senior Chief Petty Officer Roland Shelton ignored the jarhead's tone with lofty disdain of any superior life form for an evolutionary inferior. Yet it was a bit harder than usual this time as his eyes followed the corporal's almost invisible nod and picked the indicated target out of the crowded space dock gallery. She was certainly someone's snotty, he acknowledged without apparently so much as looking in her direction.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the most awesome amazon in the entire series. The one & only Great Kaja, Thandi Palane.
