I liked this one from Mission of Honor about Admiral Crandall “She was a big woman, with a hard, determined face and what one thankfully anonymous subordinate had once described as the disposition of a grizzly bear with hemorrhoids trying to pass pinecones. In fact, Commander Hago Shavarshyan thought, that had been a gross libel against grizzly bears”

Sorry, I can't help but love the anti-heroes in the Solarian League. They are so going to lose but they try so valiantly.

Cthia's father ~ "Son, do not cater to the common belief that a person has to earn respect. That is not true. You should give every person respect right from the start. What a person has to earn is your continued respect!"

Unfortunately, it's preceded by a small speech, but the final sentence really completes the scene.

"I'm well aware of the sorts of rumours which have been circulating around the fleet. Some of them have been so wild as to be outright ridiculous. For example, the one that says we're going to launch a direct attack on the Manticoran home system in response to Lovat. The very idea is preposterous. I was completely confident of that when Admiral Theisman invited Captain DeLaney and me down to the Octagon to brief us on something called Operation Beatrice, of course, it was a very interesting conversation. He and Admiral Marquette and Admiral Trenis laid Beatrice out with remarkable clarity."

"Now Captain DeLaney and I are going to brief you on it."

Which reminds me of a nearby one-liner I really liked:

"He decided to play ground attack with tennis balls, and the dastardly enemy's return fire shot him down." [SVW]

Remember who was the source of Mike's violently purple treecat slippers...?

A good one liner, what's wrong with pic? Admiral Thomas Theisman is not in body armor but in uniform, still gives the gist of the scene.

 Poker

Great art. I think the cap needs some enhancedment though. Thiesman looks a bit too much like a Star Destroyer captain.

Also, The marine battle armor is great, but weren't they holding St. Just when the 'Citizen Admiral' made his farwells?

We both love this one, I somehow expect greasy uniforms too!
Good one!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Hauptman.

"Harrington? You must be joking! The woman's an absolute lunatic!"

Honor's really cool, just don't mistake that nervous tick at the corner of her mouth for anything less than a sign to...flee!

I'm going to cheat, and put in two:

"Nothing in the universe had a shorter half-life than a politician's memory for inconvenient facts"

Hamish's internal musings, Echoes of Honor (Epilogue)

"As it happened, Web Du Havel was thick-skinned by nature—-and enjoyed few things so much as a sleeves-rolled-up, hair-hanging-down, intellectual brawl in which quarter was neither asked nor given."

OK cthia. Here's another one from Crown of Slaves.

Michael Oversteegen says to Countess Fraser:

"Because if Anton Zilwiki decides you were responsible for his daughter's death, I can assure you that the man won't be in the least impressed by your official lack of responsibility."
