People I also love...roseandheather...for this post!!

However, you said "cthia...blame her."
Her?, You do know that I am male...don't you?

I simply must stop wearing my emotions on my sleeves.

...WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS.

don't feel bad roseandheather. I'd noticed from some of his other posts that cthia was male; but that doesn't stop my brain from trying to 'parse' his username as cynthia

Now, now, that's a rather steep insult to lemons.

You've got that right, Mark. Elvis Santino is one of those characters you love to hate.

I read the entire topic, wondering what I could add since everybody was mentioning characters I personally love. The 'cats, sure - but they're designed to appeal, so do they really count in this listing?

But then I thought of one who hasn't been mentioned - Helen Zilwicki. Not LT Helen Zilwicki, but CPT Helen Zilwicki, her mother, who in the very tradition of Edward Saganami, puts herself between the aggressors and her charges. That her husband and daughter are among those charges makes it no less heroic, simply more poignant, that they are there so see her sacrifice.

That said, since now both Helens have been named, and Victor has been named, I'd add Anton as well.

And there is something very appealing - from a decent distance - about Cathy Montaigne, too.

Are you kidding me? It is downright impossible for a Grayson-like Princess to Ever do anything wrong. Bow.

By the way. Before I began fooling around on my first love, Star Trek, I was heavily into all things Vulcan. SPOCK'S WORLD is a favorite book. Inside that world I borrowed cthia-which is Vulcan for logic.

 :D

*cough* So I totally only just saw this post, by the way.

Also Diane Duane is a queen among Star Trek novelists. I had two copies of Spock's World before I cleared out my library. I've also got The Wounded Sky - which may just be the single best Trek novel in existence - and Doctor's Orders, which is pure awesome because McCoy. :D

Doctor's Orders I've read but not familiar with Wounded Sky.
It tasks me. It tasks me. I shall search to Hell's Perdition and back again 'til I find it.

Oh, you know who else I love, but who generally gets lost in the hullabaloo around Eloise, Tom, Javier, Lester, and Shannon?

Jennifer Bellefeuille.

I mean, think about her! She's this wickedly sharp tactical mind who puts up a brilliant defense at Chantilly, and then she shows up again as a task force commander in Grand Fleet!

I love Jennifer Bellefeuille. I love her lots.

Ah, Jennifer Bellefeuille!

I love how normal she is. Husband and two kids, living the Navy Brat life, even in the midst of the Pierre/ St Just era.

It may make her the bravest person in the whole frigging series.

I was a fan of McBride - as long as he lasted. Far too short in my opinion.

A hero with a dark past on a journey of redemption then meeting a tragic end.

Theisman and Pritchard I love too - maybe because they too have this sort of dark background and turning around.

And then there is - Honor! Bring her on! Pretty please! :P

Oh! And let's not forget the dark side too!

What would the story be without its villains?

I love Asinimovna. The snake in the Garden of Eden. The personification of all we hate. The goddess set up for the fall.

The Alignment is an ideology. An idea. Sure - one can hate ideas but hating a person is so much more satisfying!
Anisimovna personifies all that is bad about the Alignment. How one can hate her! And dream of her getting shown the error of her ways!

Or even worse: What if she starts to open her eyes at some point? Starts on a journey of redemption of her own maybe making us sympathize with her - with evil personified! And of course looking at what she has done already she never, ever can redeem herself! And then she falls.
