No, I'm saying if any of our people are hurt, we'll execute you as pirates.

good one! Great admirals don't make wars great, bad admirals make great admirals' wars great. -cthia Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

All I want to really know about Abigail is...when will she get her own ship? Well, RFC is obviously grooming her to fill the same role previously filled by Honor, Aivars Terekhov, Michael Oversteegen, and Michelle Henke - the brilliant, daring, tactical genius ship's captain. I've also heard speculation that she's now filling the role originally slated for Honor's daughter Katherine before RFC had to cancel the time-skip idea (and spare Honor in AAC too, so thanks!) Which means that, while she might not get it in the next book, it can't be too long now. She does have to put in her time in grade, after all, but RFC needs her in the captain's chair before too long. (I may or may not be rubbing my hands in glee at the thought but I admit nothing! ) ~*~

I don't have the book handy (was rereading and left it at work) but from Storm From the Shadows, perhaps slightly misquoted, "The usual reaction of the Manties to a threat, especially to their home system, is to kill it."

Thanks for that info! You could have actually charged for that tid-bit you know. We fans need her in the Captain's seat too Milady. Be careful what you wish for. The fastest way to give her a(n acting) command is for Weber to bump off the two or three officers above her. ----
Imagined conversation: Admiral [noting yet another Manty tech surprise]: XO, what's the budget for the ONI? Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos. Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money? |
