" I won't pretend I'm happy to hear about shared skulduggery, hobnobbing and multual admiration societies between someone who used to be one of my own spies and someone who's still currently spying for a star nation I happen to be at war with"

I think someone has but it doesn't matter as favorite one-liners can belong to us all! Great admirals don't make wars great, bad admirals make great admirals' wars great. -cthia Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

I was actually searching for this quote myself. It is awesome isn't it? In fact as I remeber it that entire passage was quite amusing. Great admirals don't make wars great, bad admirals make great admirals' wars great. -cthia Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. Of course,” her smile grew, “once the treaty is signed, I expect your navy is going to get much nastier all around.”

“And,” Matthews grinned wryly, “because it’s probably too technical for our people to duplicate even if we understood the explanation.”

But, Mr. Hauptman, should you ever attempt to carry through your threat against my parents—" her eyes were leveled missile batteries and the tic at the corner of her mouth jerked like a living thing "—I will denounce you publicly for your contemptible actions and demand satisfaction. And when you accept my challenge, Mr. Hauptman, I will kill you like the scum you are."

I think that also qualifies as the understatement of the series (Honor speaking of the Grayson Navy, at that time reduced to three hyper-capable ships, none larger than a CL...) Last edited by Hutch on Fri Jan 31, 2014 7:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I don't know about immortal lines, I just keep wondering when we're going to wake and find out this just some really weird dream.
Remember, this amateur's hour. It would be nice if they hit within a few days of their operational plan. I didn't think the engine rooms hamsters had it in them! |
