I prefer the one used in Babylon 5

Some of the Senators wanted to pin a medal on you, some wanted to shoot you and a few wanted to pin a medal on you and then shoot you. I can't say that the last suggestion had a certain appeal.

Eloise Pritchart musing over the possibility of having Honor strangle a couple of particularly annoying politicians and giving her a Presidential pardon - then realising that, hey, Honor has diplomatic immunity!

Meanwhile, Honor's busy wondering if she could convince Eloise to return to her assassinating ways one last time...

If I remember right it went;
"Half my generals want me to give you a kiss on the cheek, and the Medal of Honor. The other half want you taken out and shot. Politics is about compromise, so by all rights I should give you the Medal of Honor, then have you shot. I admit the idea had a certain appeal when I suggested it to my Generals..."

Made even more awesome by being delivered in a pleasant tone, and Russian accent.
