Ouch, that was really clumsy of the organisers. You should probably have shouted at them until they rescheduled one event.

Personally i´ve gone over to playing Shogi more than chess in the last decade or so.
Even though i´m not very good at it(and i win more in chess), the extra level of complexity and flexibility that it has compared to chess is really interesting.
Just the thing how you can sometimes go from being "I`M DOOMED!" to "HAHAHA, I`M GOING TO WIN!!!" with just a single well placed piece (any piece you capture, is literally captured, and can later be placed almost anywhere on the board as your own piece instead of making a normal move) is awesome fun.
Trading pieces becomes magnitudes harder to predict if it´s a good idea, because the opponent might need just one extra offboard piece to have a perfect plan to check-mate you.
