Yeah. If he´s a bit more advanced he can also hack his own computer either to remove the filter completely, or to make nothing happen if he bypasses it.

If you don´t want someone being able to see porn, then you don´t give them a computer and definitely not an internet connection.

Not to mention of course all the annoyances those filters tend to cause, filtering out sites/pics they´re not supposed to.

Meh, it´s one of those laws of nature, kids will find porn, i´d be more concerned over what sort is found.

My oldest (14, though he was 12 when he did it) discovered this fine fact of the internet. Most notably, Google images, which got around the basic set of filters and protections. Then he followed links from the images back to more interesting things.

Where he failed, epicly, was that he did it on his sister's computer (thinking that would keep him from getting caught). He saved links and images on the desktop for his later enjoyment. Only thing was, he saved them to her log-in account. So when she saw them, my daughter screamed bloody murder and came running to yell about the nasty things her brother left on her computer!

Despite this encouraging sign that he'd discovered girls (A depressing thought), I am relieved that he has shown no interest in the fairer sex, two years later. Or in other boys, for that matter. No girl friends, no school dances or social interests. So I don't have to worry about him following up on those images he did find on the internet. At least not just yet. lol

You guys are making me feel so great....sarcasm intended. Now, I have to worry about proxy servers etc...etc...etc. The only good thing is that it's his mom who is dealing with the porn. She got the email that he had been attempting to access porn sites. So, his computer is now on small table in the dining/cooking area! She knew that I had something to do with it...yes she got the truth out of me! Like that's real hard to do. She asked her son where he saw his first porn...it's on her ex-husband's computer. Oopps, one thing I have learned is not to piss her off. She has the Latin American Middle class temper. I could not keep up with conversation she was having in Spanish with her ex-. What little that understood, (she was speaking so fast I could not translate everything she said in my brain...but it was bad) made me want to go get the yard work done, take the cars to get the oil changed, and go get a hair cut!
It's kinda funny...combat does not scare me...bullies do not scare me...my ex-wife does not scare me but a 4'10" woman pissed off scares the hell out of me and I voluntary married her. I thank God that normally she is just a super sweet, caring, and compassionate woman but her temper is like the 3 furies combined from Greek mythology. One other thing....never come between her and her son...it's not worth dieing over.

If we could harness the anger of ladies anger, we could power a city off each and every one of them.... :D

Also, You could consider using the blockages on his computer as a test. To be able to get at what he wants, he has to show he has learnt enough about computers and software to get around all your blocks......

Of course not unlike the playboy magazines we used to "find" from our friends closets you can bet no matter what your kids are looking at, at homethey are also doing so at friends too. You could always buy them a playboy subscription and keep them on the straight and soft.

Playboy soft porn / nude modelling. rather than the hard porn on the web.
