So if the Sollies do decide to try to refit their SDs in accordance with various plans to improve their combat capability, will the resulting vessels be known collectively as the Mad Scientist-class?

Subtlety??? With the SLN??? We're talking about the people you have to hit with a clue-by-four to get them to realize you're talking to them!!!!!! _
Try to take a fisherman's fish and you will be tomorrows bait!!! |

Subtlety from DW.
To borrow from Galaxy Quest, the SLN could call them the Documentarian class. |

Chief "The 2013 Darwin awards are out http://jdgroover.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/the-2013-darwin-awards-are-out/ The winner was: 'When his .38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.' He obviously had never taken a firearm safety course. "
Mange,<I liked this runner up: 'After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn’t discovered for 3 days.' You know if you had been on the buss, Chief, they might not have released you. > "Very funny you six limbed walking flea circus!" Poker & Mange CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

These aren't the "official" Darwin Awards. If there were any, they'd be at: http://www.darwinawards.com/ . However, the person maintaining the "official" site hasn't updated for close to a year. I'm not sure she's ever done a "best of the year," "worst of the year," "most clueless of the year," or "least likely to be missed from the gene pool of the year" summary. Runners-up need to be eligible. If they're not dead, or at least incapable of breeding, they're not eligible. I'd give this guy an also-ran. The number of people who kill themselves in this way in any given year has to be in the dozens. It's simply not strange enough. I'm sure there are stones paving the wide and easy road to you-know-where that are inscribed "I didn't know it was loaded," "the safety was on" or "it wasn't working." The last doesn't only apply to weapons, of course. |
