In defence of my beloved language, it's not exactly theft - we don't stop others from using the words. It's more like digital piracy, really. And we hand out loads of loan words of our own too.
It's just a really really social language, that's all... |

Flint may have quoted those lines, but they were originally said by others. 1) "English is the result of Norman men-at-arms attempting to pick up Saxon barmaids and is no more legitimate than any of the other results." -- H. Beam Piper 2) "The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." -- James D. Nicoll http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/English_language ----
Imagined conversation: Admiral [noting yet another Manty tech surprise]: XO, what's the budget for the ONI? Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos. Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money? |

I'm re-reading The Short Victorious War currently, and everytime I read bits about Amos Parnell, Michael Byrne pops into my head.

I think I'm soooo getting dissent for this, but I've recently had a brilliant (or horrible) idea regarding Honor's actress.
Please... don't kill me... but... wouldn't she be perfect? *hides* http://sourcefed.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/936full-jennifer-lawrence1.jpg http://bluebannermedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Hunger-Games-pic-8.jpg Yes, that's Jennifer Lawrence from Hunger Games. What gave me this crazy idea? Her eyes' light asian touch... and her dark braid. |

All I'm going to say is that she can't do the braid anymore. She's cut off most of her hair and gone with a pixie cut. Oh, and it's blonde. Not that that matters. http://www.freep.com/usatoday/article/3456315 =================

So what? In HotQ, Honor still had closely cropped hair... ^^ Only problem: She isn't tall enough...
That's what dye's there for. Or is perhaps her blond hair dyed...? I think she could be a good Lara Craft as well... |

my favs:
Daniela Ruah (from NCIS LA: "Kensie Blye") http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2079733/ she got the looks, the size (almost) and is athletic enough (as I already mentioned in this thread viewtopic.php?%20f=1&t=4636) Damian Lewis (Charlie Crews in "Life", Major Richard Winters in "Band of Brothers", Sergeant Nicholas Brody in "Homeland") as Admiral James Bowie Webster (sadly he's to old for Samuel Houston Webster) and Claire Danes ("Carrie" Mathison from "Homeland") as Admiral "Horrible" Hemphill "Audemus ius nostra defendere"

Ms. Lawrence is 5'8" or 1.72 meters. Not many women will be taller than that and can act. I suspect it will be easier to find shorter actors to play opposite her than find a taller woman.
