The actual fight scenes are not my point. They can find a tall asian/anglo woman who is good at MA and a Navy vet as well as being able to act... :D

I want them to do their jobs, including doing a really good job of casting HH. They are not going to bother with this... just shut it down right now and don't waste anymore time or money.

Actually, as someone who has some jiu-jitsu training (when I get back, I want my competition gi to be green and find a Harrington Key patch) I agree. I move different and actually see things differently when I watch people fighting or boxing.

In fact, a few weeks ago an idiot teammate tried to start a fight with my rugby team captain and even though he was bigger, seeing the guy's stance, I knew he was going to get decked in one punch. So there is something to be said about people with martial arts training having a better stance.

Watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I can see Ming-Na Wen playing Honor Harrington. She has the poise and gravitas and she has the chops to pull good martial arts moves.

I recently discovered this series and am 2 books from the end....family pissed at me, etc ...lol...Love it!!

As to the movie announcement...I honestly see potential in this similar to star wars or star trek assuming it's executed well.....I also see the possibility for a complete flop if it follows the example of Battlefield Earth, for example....my favorite book of all time anhd an absolutely abysmal movie.

Anyone have ideas for Honor? I just hope to god they don't even CONSIDER Angelina Jolie...pleeeaase!!

Thanks for your time...I look forward to this site ;o)

You are in luck. Jolie's child collecting some years back had some political fallout which seriously complicated the Weber's adoption efforts. As a result, her name is a 4 letter word in the Weber household, and the chances she will star as Honor are about the same as mine. (Myself being a 195 cm, 115 kg, bearded Irishman, I at least have the height to play her.)

You beat me to the punch! I was going to say what (I think) Dukk said to me a few years ago, that there is no way in this God's Green Earth that Ms. Jolie will be Honor Harrington, although her portrayal of Franky in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was eerily similar to the look Honor Harrington would have in Hades.

I, as well, would have to be incredibly desperate to READ a star wars or star trek BOOK....lol. And yes, I loved all of Hubbard's sci fi....sorry...

I like the idea of Stewart.....do I invite a public stoning by suggesting Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) for Hamish? *ducks*

I also like the idea of unknowns....look at the latest 2 star trek movies....all fresh actors and I for one think they did a HECK of a great job.

Additionally......the Ringworld series would indeed provide an awesome basis for a new series of movies....

Lastly....does the Boss Man (Weber) ever show up here?

I was actually thinking of Dwayne Johnson as Tomas Ramirez. He's tall, athletic, and has the build and look to play the part. Problem with him is the accent. David Zayas has the accent, but the look is a bit off to play Tomas Ramirez. I was thinking Danny Trejo, but he's too short.

Personally at 6'8" 350, football player build and being Latino, I nominate myself to play Tomas Ramirez! I'm ready for my closeup Mr. deWeber!

care to post a pic so we can have a look :D

otherwise ... Dwayne Johnson as "Little Tomacito"? Sounds nice!

my favs:

Daniela Ruah (from NCIS LA: "Kensie Blye")
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2079733/
she got the looks, the size (almost) and is athletic enough
(as I already mentioned in this thread viewtopic.php?%20f=1&t=4636)

Damian Lewis (Charlie Crews in "Life", Major Richard Winters in "Band of Brothers", Sergeant Nicholas Brody in "Homeland") as Admiral James Bowie Webster (sadly he's to old for Samuel Houston Webster)
and
Claire Danes ("Carrie" Mathison from "Homeland")
as Admiral "Horrible" Hemphill
"Audemus ius nostra defendere"
(We dare defend our rights)
672nd Renegade Pursuit Wing (Minerva)
"Witches of Defiance"

I knew she was The Woman Who Must Not Be Named around these parts, but I didn't know why, and was kind of afraid to bring it up by asking. Now I do.

Completely independently, I agree that she'd be too old and too expensive even if she was authorially acceptable.

I've mentioned in another thread who I think would be good for Honor, but since this is a new thread, I'll put it here too.

Hailee Steinfeld.

She was good in True Grit and I expect she will do well in Ender's Game.

If casting hasn't finished for the Honorverse movies, there are probably quite a few young actors from Ender's Game that can fill some prolong roles.

Hollywood can make people look older too, though they usually make it happen the other way around.

And if you make someone look older to fit the part in a movie, you can use the same actors longer :P

I don't know how many of you out there have heard of or watch the TV show: Grimm. If Evergreen could license the software they use for morphing their actors, they could put any face on anyone. If you have not seen the show, the CGI effects are amazing. They do not use masks for their characters when they change into monsters. It is all done in post-production.

CGI for special effects is fine, or for fantasic characters who obviously can't really look that way.

For real humans though? It's just not the same for me. I fully expect Nimitz to be CGI, but I really hope Honor and other human characters aren't. There's a whole different "feel" to real people on the screen.
