In my opinion there is way to many pages and scenarios devoted to reasoning, rationalizations, Tech stuff, and just plain wasted pages. I know that some such are required for a base and explanation but too much. Example: what does all the scenes devoted to Irys and Coris have to do with anything? Ex2: Coris's trip to Zion was described in great detail which wasn't needed and when he got there nothing happened.

First off, welcome to the forums. The more the merrier.

If you think that nothing happened on the trip to Zion, you missed the point of both the trip and the conversations with Irys. Both Coris and Irys start out the book as pretty much loyal adherents of the CoG. The trip by Coris shows the total lack of concern for Davin by the Go4 and their willingness to use him any way that will benefit them, regardless of the cost to others. The conversations show the disillusionment of Irys with the Group of Four, as opposed to the CoG. That rejection of the Go4 leads directly to her decision to seek asylum from Charis. But there needed to be a foundation for the change. If she had done so totally out of the blue, after her hatred of Cayleb, it would not have been believable.

Bringing this forward once again for the new people on the forums. So far, just over six per cent have voted. I hope to get a few more.

It would be nice if those who were willing would go to

User Control Panel > Profile > Edit Profile

and add their location to their sign in.

It would be nice also if the newcomers voted for either/or both of the series that they read.

Well, in a few months I'd have to vote again, but on the other side of the median.

I started with Honor Harrington, and still read that series, but since the main focus is shifting away from Honor, I have found more interest in the Safehold series. As this series is where I spend most of my time (although I'm rereading Empire of Man at the moment), this forum is what I mainly look at and pay attention to. While I am looking forward to any new novel by RFC, I'm most eagerly awaiting the next Safehold book.

Hmm, time for another graphic representation of the data:

Note only minor differences between fans of Honorverse and Safehold and none in median and mode. If you're in you forties you are a typical fan on these forums.

In my mid-to-late 30s, but I've been bald since my early 20s.
I've got a darned good beard, though. Good enough that I actually use it as my username on another website that is apparently avoided by the Mad Wizard...

I can't write anywhere near as well as Weber
But I try nonetheless, And even do my own artwork.

Maybe we 40 somethings are just fans of David Weber and what ever he writes.

With this wait for LaMA, I'm getting older all too rapidly yet time is not moving fast enough!

So using the poll function lets find out. Note if you read both series do the poll on both please. Should be interesting. By the by David Weber is in his early 60s.

New to the forum! Been lurking for a while, but the lack of Weber-pages to read lately has turned me here for my fix. Snippits from the new Safehold have been a small fix for my addiction. I've been a fan for a long time and have been following David's stuff and used to be quite active on the Baen forums and on ABDW back in the day. Anyhow, 36 here. :D
