Welcome atanica. its good to have lots of young bloods around, as it helps ensure there will be fans around for a long time. I'm 20, but have been reading David weber since about 14.
And agreed that so few people read sci fi any more. they watch the movies, but they dont read, or if they do, its fantasy (Harry potter, twilight, etc made up half of the teenage requests when i worked at my local library), Romance(80% of what teenage girls got out), or gritty realistic stories, like louis sachars small steps, where most of the conflict and plot is due to characters not telling the truth, not telling enough of the truth, or not speaking out at all. They either wanted to read because it was a popular book, or because they needed to read a book for schoolwork.
