Himself hasn't appeared since mid November...
Anyone have any word? He's to appear in person at a con in Albany in March... If someone here is attending, could you get us some word as to when he might again darken our screens. |

It has been a while since I last saw an update of what he is working on. But the last one I did see, which was several months ago, indicated that his current work in progress is the next Honorverse book. So if he isn't working on a Safehold book, maybe that is why he is not visiting the Safehold forum.

I generally take him being absent from forums as a good sign. It generally means he is really busy writing stuff and does not have time to mess around on forums. Seems like his big posting flurries tend to be when he has just finished a book up or just starting to do snerks for an upcoming book.

Given the fact david was behind or had firm deadlines approaching his absence is understandable, he's a work before play kind of guy. Stree could also bring health conserns not just in david but other family members. When David has something to post he will.

I hope he's not trying to do a Patterson, without an army of ghost writers to do 90% of the work - that would only dilute the quality!
If he reads this, my plea/advice is to slow down and smell the roses. It's more important to savor and enjoy your life than to get compulsive and overdriven by your work! We'll see the next book when we see it. Philip Stanley |

Sure wish MWW/RFC's publicist would post an update to let us know everything is well in the Weber household and our favorite pusher of addicting words is happy and doing well physically and mentally. It would also be nice to know that my next Safehold volume will not be delayed like HFQ.

Well, there's a pair of podcasts that contain an interview with Himself and Joelle Presby, done last week:

I hope RFC's priorities have him getting large doses of his three teenage children's lives. And I hope his best bud is having to shoo him back to his author's den. The next time you start to whine about RFC's publishing schedule, or even think about whining, go to the nearest mirror and tell yourself to "get a life" at least three times. Of course I can say that cuz I just got my third grandson. |

As long as he doesn't let any trivial little things, like, oh, cancer, for example keep him from writing, I'll be happy.
I'm very sympathetic to his prioritizing his family ahead of his writing; as much as we like to fondly imagine ourselves as members of an extended family of sorts, his wife and kids definitely come first. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, as much as I enjoy every single syllable of the snippets, they're a privilege, not a right, and I appreciate the time he puts into granting us that privilege. So much so that I buy the hardback copies of his books as they come out rather than waiting for the paperback or going to the library. .
