So when I bought the first 7 books directly from the publisher site, I got them in an ePub format. With HFQ being offered through Amazon, does anyone have a guess as to whether it will also be offered as an ePub? I'd like to keep the entire series with the same file formats so I can read them with the same eReader.

You can always use Calibre to convert it to any desired format.

Epub is a B&N format I think. I am expecting B&N to download HFQ to my nook Tuesday. I have prepaid.

It's a free and open standard that anyone can use.

Not if TOR uses DRM; Calibre cannot process DRM encoded books.

From what i recall, having never bought an ebook off amazon... Amazon adds DRM to make conversions difficult. There were guides on how to remove the DRM, but this was years ago and it might be gone now, or require new steps. Dunno.

Anyways...
Format: Kindle
Published as: .azw3; .azw; .kf8

The Amazon Kindle's AZW format is basically just the Mobipocket format with a slightly different serial number scheme (it uses an asterisk instead of a dollar sign), and .prc publications can be read directly on the Kindle. The Kindle AZW format also lacks some Mobipocket features such as JavaScript.

Hi Guys,

Actually, it's trivial to do to this day. There's a plugin for Calibre, try searching with google for this word:
iSmoothBlog-DRM-Removal
The second hit ought to give you everything you need. Just install the plugin into Calibre and register your calibre serial no. in the plugin config (The Calibre App for computer has one too). Any azw file you now drop into your calibre is auto-converted into mobi.

Really useful tool if you want to switch to a non-kindle eReader and have a lot of amazon ebooks ...

Cheers,
Bosparan

As far as I remember, Tor has declared some times ago, that all ebooks will be sold drm-free, period.
That includes the ebooks they sell via Amazon, too.

Correct.

Tor doesn't use DRM anymore.

Just a note, don't blame Amazon (or any other ebook store) for DRM.

Having DRM is a decision by the publisher not Amazon or any other ebook store.
